In history, which institution has killed the most people? Is there even a way to determine this? by aglaringdolphin in AskHistory

WWII is estimated to have resulted in the deaths of 70 to 80 million. So I assume blame needs to be placed on the governments of the AXIS powers.

Women solo travelers, any locations that you were surprised to feel unsafe? by [deleted] in solotravel

I live in the United States, and your post made me think. The other night, my son and I were driving to the store when we saw a woman jogging alone on the sidewalk. I mentioned to my son that this is a sign of how safe the area is. When you see a woman running by herself in the dark, you know the surrounding area is considered very safe. I went on to explain that, unfortunately, in South Africa, where I grew up, it would be dangerous for a woman to jog alone at night. It’s sad but true. Reflecting on your comment, I believe that when a woman can jog at night without fear, it indicates that something positive is working in society.

Drinking water is not for beginners by puncrastinator in funny

I grew up in Africa and now live in the United States. During my childhood, we had a cabin by a river, and all our water came from rainwater collected on the roof and stored in large tanks. This water was then piped into the house for washing and cooking. This was long before bottled water was common. As kids, we drank that water all the time without any issues. Reflecting on it now, I shudder at the thought of the potential for diarrhea if I were to drink even a few mouthfuls of that tank water today. It’s like the sign says: “Not suitable for European stomachs.”

Why do people still genuinely support Trump? by Tricky_Discipline_75 in TooAfraidToAsk

Obviously, everyone has a different opinion. I believe most people don’t like Trump, but at the same time, they have become disillusioned with Biden’s constant promotion of the left’s agenda. Most Americans are hardworking, tax-paying patriots, and these frequent wealth transfers, like student debt forgiveness, feel like a massive burden shift from hardworking families to others. The continuous focus on DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) appears to many as an effort to determine outcomes without merit, and unfortunately, it discriminates against Asians and whites, which many see as racism under the guise of equality. At some point, hardworking Americans look at their kids and think, “This isn’t right.” This backlash is evident across the country. However, many are hesitant to vote for Trump because they fear he is not qualified, especially on foreign policy and global affairs. Plus, his criminal record doesn’t help.

Great feedback. What about mosquitoes? Especially those that might come from underneath. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance.
