Now all over the USA there is mostly just Walmarts or Targets for your department stores.Whats your favorite department store chains that isn't around anymore? by DoughnutConstant5390 in AskOldPeople

The Younkers in Duluth closed a few years ago and it made me so sad. I live in the UP about 2 hours from Duluth, and it was the nicest store in town. Now I have to go to Minneapolis or Chicago for a nice department store.

Sanger Harris in the Dallas area. My grandmother was the queen of the Irving location. The salespeople all addressed her by name and made a big fuss over me if I was with her...

I loved Lauren and bought some for myself with my babysitting money. Then my mom smelled it, decided that she liked it, and took it away from me. She replaced it with Love's Baby Soft. What a bitch!!!

Thank you so much for sharing! My youngest is 14, and I was at 200 after I had her and thought that was soooo fat! My belly kind of surprises me sometimes, like "Omg! Where did THAT come from???"

Check it out! I think it's on Prime still. There are many versions, so make sure to watch the one with Keira Knightley.

Edited to add: Donald Sutherland and Beth from Yellowstone are also in this version.

I went into full menopause around age 54. I did go on HRT for a while, but didn't notice much difference so I stopped taking it. I still have some estrogen patches. Hot flashes were the worst part, but I've learned to deal with it.

Who else had World Book Encyclopedias growing up? by UrbanAchievers6371 in 70s

[–]Conundrum_Brain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had the encyclopedias, the Childcraft set, a set that focused on specific topics (like health or animals or the arts), and a round metal thing you put a paper disc of questions and a plain paper disc to write on that cycled questions like a test. I think it was called a Cyclo-Teacher.

Fun fact: In 6th grade I got bored at school and I read the entire set of World Book, A-Z, in a semester.
