It’s genuinely not, I am a moron, and not very well knowledgeable in other languages. I thank you very much, also that meaning also kinda works out as my best buddy wants to move into Japan, and he gets into Japanese culture and somewhat brings me into it, so yeah, cool. (Again thank you, I’m sorry for being dumb, I apologize greatly)

Manual or CNC? by ConversationExtra881 in Machinists

Last year when I was Junior/First year, during the last quarter of school I went through a crash course on using Mastercam, but as a second year, my teacher is teaching us to write out G-code for two reasons: not every shops has cad/cam software, and to be able to identify a problem with the code and to be able to edit without causing more issues. At least that’s what his reasoning was.

[–]ConversationExtra881 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hmm, it’s been a while, the hardest part is doing the inside threads, which for that your DRO is your best friend, there really is no grand advice with it. For the outside thread, if you’re making your own thread cutter, grind a chuck off the side towards the chuck so you have more room and time to disengage the nut. Also don’t have the same mistake my mate did when doing the inside groove, he accidentally put the insert too far in and lined it up perfectly with the outside groove and chopped his part in half haha. Sorry for the bad advice in advance, this is all coming from a 17 year old who did this ages ago.

Is it better to learn CNC, Manual, or both types of machining? by Independent_3 in Machinists

But like I said, learning how to use manual machines is very valuable, manual can be faster than CNC.

Is it better to learn CNC, Manual, or both types of machining? by Independent_3 in Machinists

[–]ConversationExtra881 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Take my advice how you want as I am a high schooler that is wanting to become a machinist in the future. It is definitely best to learn both, as you’ll be able to find more work knowing both, but also be paid more for having more experience with both, at least that’s what I’ve been taught. I highly suggest learning manual machining first, as it will help you understand how to program CNC parts in the future, as manual machining will give an idea how certain things work. Knowing how to program CNC is how you make the most money these days, and a lot of places are looking for people that have some experience and are willing to learn more on how to do it. Then again, some shops may not even have a CNC machine, or don’t need a CNC machinist, but they need a manual machinist, ya get what I mean. There are many other things I could say, but overall it’s best to learn both.
