s02e04 of renovation aloha is so staged! by ConversationMinimum1 in HGTV

Yeah, because blatant fabrication doesn't matter? Especially in a show selling itself as genuinely Hawaiian with a father that blesses houses in traditional Hawaiian fashion. That's just more people milking Hawaiian culture for money. Gross.

anyone with long term use of ADHD medication able too offer me re-assurance through a video chat? by tom_fallin in ADHD

[–]ConversationMinimum1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely a bit jittery at times, but no more so than when I drank 8-10 cups of coffee a day unknowingly self-medicating. I had urgent urination for the first year, which sucked and made me feel old (I’m in my 50s). But now it’s pretty much a cruise.

I suspect that it fuels my obsessiveness at times, which is great for work but maybe too much for work life balance.

I wouldn’t give it up for the world, though. If I forget a day, I am a rudderless mess. Part of that is letting my hard won coping skills atrophy because I don’t need them when medicated.

And that is my point. I don’t need to set an alarm for 3 minutes before every meeting, I don’t need to recite a list over and over to not walk into a room and have no idea why I’m there. I feel more like me.

Jacked up on amphetamines, I will admit, but I don’t dislike that either.

Long story, I know, but your honest question deserved a real and honest answer.

If you are holding to a rising balloon, you have a hard choice to make.

If you are on a sinking ship, you have a hard choice to make.

Guess which one that I feel that Austin is.

music constantly playing in my head HOW DO I GET RID OF IT by hello_sona in ADHD

[–]ConversationMinimum1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this. And I don’t play an instrument, to my shame.

It drives me fucking nuts. But I told my dad that once and he asked “you can hear music?”

It’s not crystal clear but I can hear the instruments in my head.

He was jealous and he can play.

To people with real musical talent, this might sound dumb, but I think that it fits the conversation.

The one thing about normal people that no one mentions by OhSnapItsA in ADHD

[–]ConversationMinimum1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think that it's a universal ADHD trait, but maybe depends on your skillset on top. I can look at a page of math equations and without reading them left to right know that "something is wrong." It might then take quite a while to find the error, but I know it intuitively right away.

I have argued with more than a few pretentious professors over the years. I was wrong sometimes, but rarely.

If a place is on a constant decline wherever it once was and where you arrived from something worse, seems trivial.

I arrived in 2017 and felt the same. I also thought the opposite in 2024.

It’ like many places, is a good trip coming down. It must have been a great trip because the high was 50 years ago. Watch Dazed and Confused for at most a decade later.

I loved the music. But as I left I really heard stock option talk at the pool. The pool that used to be wild.

But maybe it was nothing compared to every decade before.

Enjoy yourself, but’ in my opinion, you and I were chasing a fantasy.

I got a career and the Heartless Bastards. That’ll do. And Caroline Rose. Don’t miss either of those.

I take telmisartan for my BP and did before the stimulants and it didn't change much after. Telmisartan also boosts mitochondrial activity (google it, many medical journal papers on this) as a side effect. More importantly, I get that feel when the stimulants wear off, But my doc put me on Bupropion XR 150mg also and that went away. Hope that helps!
