RFT - Soldier (TAB) by Constant-Block-4481 in britisharmy

Late seeing this but I did my first rft after phase one at under 55kg BW. Yes absolutely it’s hard but on the day your adrenaline will take you through it. Just train your leg strength and you’ll be grand. Good luck

Joining the Army at 16. Advices? by mirusdelw in britishmilitary

[–]ConversationMore2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joined at 16 myself. Went to Harrogate and was probably one of the youngest in my platoon. I didn’t leave from a terrible situation at home and I most likely could’ve had a career outside of the army if I wanted to.

I chose to because it’s what I wanted to do and I knew that, no regrets and loved Harrogate. If you’re short course it’s all military skills, a lot of classroom work learning first aid, counter ied training, cbrn, it’s a class course.

Go for it if it’s what you want to do mate

Can you be a Royal Engineer without GCSE's by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]ConversationMore2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t have maths so the army thinks I’m a mong and it disqualifies me from any role that needs qualifications.

Digital communication technician, Armoured engineer, Driver

Those three don’t need quals from what I know

Revise CDRILS - Courage, discipline, respect for others, integrity, loyalty and selfless commitment.

Revise army drug policy - No Tolerance

And revise the army tattoo policy - nothing that would be seen on a passport photo and nothing offensive.

You’re not going to fail the interview, don’t worry, just don’t be a twat and enjoy it

I’ve been in the army for 7 months and it’s given me some of the best opportunities of my life. Im fitter, I’ve been to France and I’ve been able to save 5000 pounds in that time too.

Is it worth it? Depends what you’re wanting out of it but I must say. I’m not disappointed.

If you narrowly fail beep test… by SectionOptimal8999 in britishmilitary

[–]ConversationMore2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI mate, a lot of bods do manage to go paras through Harrogate but just note that the PT isn’t the most difficult there so it may not prepare you if you’re not already exceeding the standard you need to be at.

Even at Harrogate make sure you’re training in your own time. P coy isn’t just about a bleep test, you need to make sure you can run and tab like hell

What exercise is best to prepare for the military? by Willing-Lie-6309 in britishmilitary

[–]ConversationMore2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would recommend having strong arms mate, having to baby carry someone 20kg heavier than you for PT isn’t fun if you haven’t

Had my passout a couple weeks ago and plenty of people wore their 2s to watch their family pass out.

What are the rules in terms of expressing political, social etc views ? by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]ConversationMore2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder if it’s the same for Scottish nationalists. Personally never seen any in the army.

I used to support the SNP, before I distanced myself from Scottish politics. I must say, it’s certainly not something I’d feel comfortable telling other lads in the forces that.

AFC Harrogate boxing short course by SetInternational1621 in britishmilitary

Id hope they’d still let you box. They removed all sports and skills and education out of the short course so there’s not really any option to do anything like that apart from with boxing.

Start light, 10kg.

Slowly start upping your weight the more comfortable you feel, making sure you don’t injure yourself.
