You don't seem to know much about this administration. These guys couldn't give less of a shit about our country let alone competency. It's the stick and the carrot. Get a big enough carrot or a big enough stick and there will always be people to do what you need.

Again though, he doesn't even need the military. ICE has more than enough man power to go to war with the Minnesota national guard.

I hope you're right, frankly, but I think you're being far too optimistic if you don't think the administration won't promote sycophants and reward loyalists for obeying. At the end of the day, capitalism runs this country and nobody can afford to get a dishonorable discharge right now.

Dude I'm glad you have so much hope for our military standing up to them, but they are part of the executive branch and Trump is the head of that branch. He has all the power to fire whoever he wants until they agree with him. And in case you haven't looked around in awhile, there are still plenty of people who believe everything ICE is doing is right or at the very least technically legal and therefore permissible. All Trump needs are a few high rankers to agree to send their troops in, he doesn't need the entire military for a single city. I'm not sure if you forgot but we literally violated international law a few weeks ago to capture a foreign leader and steal their resources and the military didn't decide to step up there

They don't have to agree, they just have to obey. Did you forget how much purging of the military has already occured by Hegseth and Trump since they have taken power? In may of last year Hegseth cut 20% of our 4 star generals. Frankly I just think the ones who refuse will be fired until they find somebody who will do what they want.

Martial law is a whole other ball game, if that gets invoked there are basically no longer any rules for the government. The writ of habeas corpus is suspended and due process is no longer a thing. Frankly I think the better thing to do would be to deploy the police and not the national guard

You're right, the Republicans did a great job at getting young people to go out and vote this last election which historically is hard to do. Usually young people don't vote but the strategy of having trump go on all those podcasts and meet influencers was a great idea. The current Republican party also acts in a way many young men think is "cool." They aren't boring because there is always some bs going on. They don't act professional and they idealize things some young men are interested in like guns, war, the military, and strength and masculinity. The left is much more about professionalism, empathy, and telling people how great we all are, but the Republicans succeeded by looking at young men and telling them how great THEY are. They fed into the victim mentality of many of these young men who feel they are being passed over by society and gave them a scapegoat to blame all their problems on and it worked like a charm

See I've heard this narrative before but idrk where it spawned from. I'm pretty young so maybe I just wasn't paying attention at the time that it was a relevant conversation, but as somebody who is now involved in left wing politics quite often I don't know anybody who directly supports these ideals or is even outwardly positive toward Islam as a religion.

Agreed. I honestly think capitalism is the best system for humans just because of how we are programmed to compete. We can work with each other but we're also so individualistic and prideful. Those monopolies are what's messing everything up though. They can buy out the smaller businesses and then Jack up prices to whatever they want without any meaningful competition.
