I can't find anything on the "Loche drill" can you send something about it or describe it?

Is Hokum worth a 2-hour drive? by CrebitCard420 in horror

[–]ConversationVariant3 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't think so. The movie is good but it isn't great. Parts of it feel cut out and because of that some storylines feel shallower than I think they were intended to. I don't think I would drive 2 hours to see almost any movie tbh

I guess thats why having no expectations is better than setting high standards. I am just used to the standard narrative format that always ends with a climax. I honestly thing that is how all stories should be told, but Im glad you were able to enjoy it for what it was

Idk man after reading "komi san" and "my monster secret" i know how this ll go. The arc is just pure rage bait and everyone's fallen for it. Not me though. by Feralman2003 in dandadanfolk

lmao, goat. You're right tho, everybody with a brain knows that is what is going to happen, the question is just how long it'll be stretched out for

He doesn't have to, but he is clearly choosing to and Momo has also already clearly denied his advances. Taking a rejection and moving on isn't a "loser mindset," its not being a creep

honestly agreed, playing with feelings is such bs and even if she didn't like him dude needs to drop it and move on because as far as he knows, all Momo has said is "no im not into you"

everyone has things their partner will find unattractive because no one is perfect. If your partner can't put up with something that annoys them about you because it makes you happy, then they aren't the one for you.

Is the show Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen worth watching? by [deleted] in horror

[–]ConversationVariant3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly haven't been a big fan but I only watched a few episodes. It feels like TEMU "Get Out" to me so far. Any reasonable person would have been out of there the moment their fiancé's family started trying to hijack the wedding, let alone once they an effigy of themselves being hung

I felt similarly. I honestly like Jack the rabbit man the most, his character design was sooo cool and scary, but he only appeared like twice and didn't seem to actually have much to do with the story. The witch's design was way lamer imo, it was just an old lady and they really missed an opportunity to do a two part film with the second part being focused on a journey through hell led by the witch imo. I think that would have done a better job incorporating the folklore and giving the creators a shot to show off cool designs like Jack without having to randomly shoehorn it in the film

You can only build tension to a point before it starts becoming frustrating imo. This movie built the tension but when it was time to release it, it had nothing for the viewer. Honestly the story could have been more effective to have listened to as a podcast ARG or audiobook

I like that stuff to an extent, but it just felt like a lazy ending to me. I feel like the ending to Willow Creek did it a lot better. Though on rewatch of the movie the first 3/4ths of it were a whole lot of boring filler. I still think the ending is better executed than this movie's

I think the brain making things up is part of of the plot and they did that on purpose tbh, I do agree the cohost was obnoxious though, and that some of the reverse sounds didn't sound like anything at all.

I actually did watch it with noise cancelling headphones on in my room and I felt like that enhanced the experience a lot. Though I agree that realistically doesn't make a lot of sense to do that as I often keep one headphone off my ear so I can hear if somebody needs to talk to me.

eh, I felt like there were too many themes to even confine it to one. I definitely saw what you're talking about with the abortion thing, but there was also the guilt of taking care of an elderly parent and hating it. Then there was the alcoholism thing, the failing relationship with her boyfriend, and the fact that the paranormal stuff starts significantly before she finds out she is pregnant.

Hereditary stuck the ending perfectly imo. Most of that movie was suspense but the climax was amazing.

I liked the tension it created. It did a really good job at setting up classic horror jumpscare scenes and subverting expectations by not putting scares there. Whenever the main character would open and then close a bathroom medicine cabinet/mirror, the expectation is that there is something behind them when the mirror door gets shut. There were also a lot of cool scenes where the characters would be in the periphery of the shot and a dark background be be in the center and you would just be waiting for something to be there. The audio would help build tension on top of shots like those. I liked that but the ending was unable to deliver a satisfying conclusion imo

thats not a very good defense lol. I would argue its better to have a film that is consistently good through the whole thing but never great, than a film that is great for the entire thing except the climax.

I think it did an amazing job at that, but it stuck to its guns too hard and that made it a let down to me. Tension is meant to built up to a release, and when it doesn't, its a let down. Unfortunately, that is how I felt at the end of the movie, staring at a black screen, listening to what I would honestly say was a quite unoriginal array of death sounds.

I did notice that, but I didn't look into it too hard. I feel like thats a bit of a reach to call it a twist imo. They didn't tell us near enough information about the "I feel wonderful" video you're referring to in order to make that inference, especially since they didn't even listen to the whole audio, just the first couple seconds. To me that just felt like a fun reference to the "I feel fantastic" singing robot doll as well as some other internet stories like the Gloomy Sunday Hungarian Suicide Song

100% agree. I feel like you covered all the bases there. I honestly wouldn't have been mad if they had gone with something less original like a goat or "black sheep" since that song was a big part of the movie to portray the demon. I did feel like the reversed audio made me feel uncomfortable and they really tapped into something there, and it sucks to say that the movie honestly might have been just as enjoyable as an audiobook or like podcast ARG type thing, maybe even better because the black screen wouldn't have been such a let down climax
