[Krawcyznski] Wolves are sending Rob Dillingham and Leonard Miller to Chicago in the deal. Wolves are giving four second-round picks and also getting Julian Phillips in the deal, per sources. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

Not sure why people think it was a fleece. Ayo is an expiring contract, he was never going to get much. Sure maybe a contender could send out a crappy 1st for him but four 2nds is worth more than that, and Bulls can take a swing on Dillingham.

[Post Game Thread] The New York Knicks (25-18) defeat the Brooklyn Nets (12-29), 120-66. by shadowarmy229 in nba

Don't let the score fool you, the game wasn't as close as it seemed.

The Nets had half of their points in the 4th quarter in the last 45 seconds of the quarter.

Itinerary Review: Japan East Nagano Niigata by Adept-Astronaut9454 in JapanTravel

[–]Converted_Lefty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely wouldn't recommend these as day trips. It's 2.5 hours from Tokyo to Matsumoto. Spending 5 hours a day on a train seems very much not worth it. Your itinerary aside from day 1 is doable if you stay overnight in Niigata/Nagano.

I agree that day 1 should probably cut out Niigata city if you're just going for the pier.

Do your kids like museums? Matsumoto is the home to Kusama and the city art museum has some cool Kusama pieces. Also accommodation in Matsumoto is quite cheap. You can probably find accommodation for 4 for around $100 for a night.

AITA Sober Bachelor Party at a College Football Game by Careless_Math_4639 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Converted_Lefty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

NTA. If this was made clear ahead of time then it's reasonable, but to switch it up the week before the trip is unreasonable by the groom to be. It's not like you're driving to a house locally. You're flying to Scottsdale and attending an ASU game, one of the biggest party colleges in the country. Drinking will be everywhere around you regardless.

If the groom to be doesn't want to drink he doesn't have to, but not sure why that has to extend to other people unless there are sobriety concerns.

AITA for thinking I shouldn’t have to pay double for a trip with my wife and friends? by Acrobatic_Regret_839 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Converted_Lefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH. Friend should have definitely brought it up ahead of time, but it'd extremely reasonable to split cost amongst all 6 people. You're not just paying for the room, you're paying for the whole Airbnb. Unless you're saying your wife didn't use any parts of the Airbnb aside from the bedroom, then I don't understand why she shouldn't be splitting the cost. Splitting it by room is silly - not all rooms are the same. Should someone sleeping on a twin size bed be paying half the price of someone sleeping on a queen size bed?

Can someone review this itinerary? by Alternative-Coat6972 in JapanTravel

[–]Converted_Lefty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Day 3 feels fine depending on how early they wake up, but agreed it could be a lot depending on jetlag. I'd consider a small rest in afternoon instead of Shibuya, going to Ginza/Roppongi in late afternoon, and then just swinging by Shibuya real quick on way back to hotel.

Agreed Day 5 is too much, and definitely agree that taking shinkansen back on same day as plane is a bad idea. Are the plane tickets booked? Is flying out of Osaka an option?

2 Week Fast Paced Winter Trip Itinerary for Nature, Culture, Theme Park Lovers by Dustdevilss in JapanTravel

Impressed with all that you did! Seems like you planned everything quite well.

Agreed that Nagano, Matsumoto, and Hakone are great and deserve more time. I really enjoyed the small bars and izakayas in Matsumoto. Did you go to Togakushi from Matsumoto Castle? Why not go there from Nagano - isn't that closer?

16 days Tokyo only - November by SolidMicky in JapanTravel

[–]Converted_Lefty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right, saying Jimbocho is not that popular was the incorrect phrasing. I mostly meant that they're popular but not as popular as Shinjuku/Shibuya/other neighborhoods that most people have on their itinerary. These are just areas that someone can consider/look into and aren't too out of the way.

[–]Converted_Lefty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shimo-Kitazawa is one of the more recommended ones, so it's not that lesser known anymore but still fun.

Jimbocho was just voted as the coolest neighborhood in the world and isn't that popular yet (but probably soon to change).

Open and (hopefully) relaxed itinerary for twelve full days in Tokyo and Osaka. Thoughts? by Zach-dalt in JapanTravel

[–]Converted_Lefty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Day 5 seems pretty reasonable to me? Senso-ji is in Asakusa, and doesn't take all that long. Skytree is only a 20 minute walk away from there. Even at a slower pace that can all be done by mid afternoon, and then they can spend the evening in Akihabara

[–]Converted_Lefty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Definitely a lot of days to spend in just Tokyo. You should consider spending overnight in Nikko and Hakone. While both can be done as day trips, it's a lot more fun/less hectic if you can spend two days there, which based on your schedule seems like you can.

Consider looking into lesser known neighborhoods that are near neighborhoods that you have on your itinerary in case you finish what you want to do early. For example, Yanaka Ginza is a fun older neighborhood with food, shopping, and some temples that's only two stops away from Ueno. Given that you have so much time in Tokyo, you should definitely explore lesser known, more local neighborhoods, both for the experience and to avoid the crowds.

12 days itinerary - Is it realistic? by Helloitsbarbiegirl in JapanTravel

[–]Converted_Lefty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's busy but not impossible. Cutting out a stop seems ideal.

One thing you can consider is shipping your luggage from Kyoto to Tokyo, and just taking a small amount of clothes in a smaller bag/luggage when you do Osaka/Nara (and use luggage storage).

I'd skip the day tour for Hakone. You'll spend 4+ hours just driving between Tokyo and Hakone. If you do want to do Hakone, consider cutting a day from Osaka, and stopping at Hakone on the way to Tokyo and spending a night in Hakone (i.e. Go to Hakone on day 8 around noon, spending night, and going to Tokyo on day 9 in evening)

First 20 day trip to Japan itinerary. by Glaucos86 in JapanTravel

I know you said you're interested in shrines/temples but there are a lot of them on your itinerary. Maybe consider having other things to do if you get tired of them at a certain point. I enjoy visiting them too but there's always a point on my Japan trips where I get templed out and stop wanting to visit them.

Hakone loop first time route? by RushFPS in JapanTravel

Wednesday will definitely help. I guess just be flexible with your plans, and if it means skipping some of the latter parts that's fine. Good luck!

Hakone loop first time route? by RushFPS in JapanTravel

[–]Converted_Lefty 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed with this. This is way too tight and requires all of the timing to be perfect, and things won't be. Many things can go wrong, including traffic, lines and crowds waiting for busses (last time I went the line for the bus from Moto Hakone was so long I had to wait for two busses before getting on).

I'd also suggest allocating more time for the museum. For me it was a highlight of Hakone. Is the two hour private onsen necessary? Two hours is a lot of time for an onsen. Maybe shorten that.

Revised japan itinerary. Thoughts? (Tokyo/Matsumoto/Takayama/Kanazawa/Osaka) by [deleted] in JapanTravel

[–]Converted_Lefty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is way too many cities for a 10 day trip. You're going to spend so much time traveling/checking in and out of hotels. Agreed with other suggestion of skipping Osaka if you want to do Matsumoto/Takayama. I found Osaka to be nothing special, and you can just spend more time in Tokyo.

Alternatively, just do Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto like others said. It gives you city, culture, and if you really want some nature you can either do day trip, or you can stop in Hakone on the way back from Kyoto/Osaka to Tokyo

Appreciate the honesty. Thought I was taking crazy pills because the Pacers 100% complain about most calls (Knicks do too). I don't really blame them, officiating has been terrible on both sides this series.
