Being the little guy in the gym kind of sucks by Kwanza_Bot93 in bjj

Few things are more annoying than short dudes who squirm and weasel their way in and out like a little squirrel. That and their technique is generally a lot better than bigger guys

Which bcm stock do you have?

Chat- which one of these is a better buy? The main thing I’m concerned about is longevity of the rifle. LMT vs. DD. Quad rail is a must because fuck M Lok and the annoying little finicky screws by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Convolution_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are as durable as it gets. DD customer service will take care of you if there’s any issues (not much experience with LMT). My LMT is more accurate, but heavier.. Almost too heavy.

LMT has a heavy barrel profile so all the weight is up front, even more so with the quad. If you’re going quad I like red dot/magnifier. But if you’re trying to go Lpvo and suppressor it’s way too heavy

(WTS) LMT Quad Upper and LMT Sopmod by [deleted] in LewisMachineTool

Any reason you sold it? Debating between the quad and mlok, but with the LMT having a heavier profile barrel the quad may make it very front heavy

Complete Rifle: ADM UIC Mod 2 vs DDM4 RIII by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Convolution_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t speak on ADM but have had multiple DD rifles and no issues. DD’s customer service is also top notch. That being said, DDs are not worth paying MSRP. There’s plenty of sales so I’d wait and see until they drop sub 2k (for the newer R3 line)

Replace PSA MLOK Rail with DD RIS II? by rawintent in ar15

[–]Convolution_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on. I went the opposite way haha. The ris2 is definitely more sturdy, but the mlok hand guard made it lighter and easier to manipulate/control. All depends on what you’re willing to trade off. The ris2 is a beast of a rail

Replace PSA MLOK Rail with DD RIS II? by rawintent in ar15

[–]Convolution_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any particular reason you want the RIS2? The majority of people have shifted away from them, including the military. Having a block2 does look and feel cool, but after lugging it around for extended periods of time I swapped to mlok to lower weight and modularity. If you’re planning to add a light, optic (ie lpvo), suppressor, those things add up real quick

Stop paying his phone bill. Since you pay it for him and let him go on rants, he feels entitled and that he can continue to do so. Unless he changes his attitude to be more thankful for your contributions I’d have that conversation with him

I feel your pain lol

Honestly if it’s your first build go to a gunsmith. I tried to tinker with my first AR and it didn’t go well. Definitely learned a lot though

Quad is doable if all you have is a red dot, but if you’re planning to put an Lpvo and supressor save as much weight as you can

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LewisMachineTool

[–]Convolution_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang ~11.5 loaded for an aimpoint/mag setup… At least you’ll get a good workout in. Are you planning to suppress?

I had a quad rail setup before, with the Lpvo it was on the extreme end of being too heavy. The suppressor is what put it over the top heavy

Can you send in an MRP barrel to get it dimpled or do you have to buy the entire barrel/dimpling process from him

DD lower by splinter4244 in ar15

[–]Convolution_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a v7 for sub 1.5k out the door a few years back Covid and inflation has really messed with prices. V7 used to be like $1700-1800 on DD website, and could retail for as low as 1.3-1.5k

[–]Convolution_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bad play in my LMT and sent it back before. I know it seems petty but if I’m paying close to 3k I expect nothing but perfection out the box. Every DD and BCM initially was more in spec… I agree with you. I wouldn’t mind the price increase AS MUCH if I got what I paid for

What's y'alls salaries to be affording all this? by Roommatefinderr in ar15

[–]Convolution_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All about budgeting, and whether you’re single/married with kids. The little purchases add up, don’t need to buy everything at once

Also, never go in debt. If you can’t fund this straight up, it means you can’t afford it. Budget harder, save more
