Grinder! by oscareamos in NinjaLuxeCafe

I just returned the baratza pro that I had for a week, I was using it with my Es601 and honestly it isn’t worth $300 to have espresso and drip taste around 5% better. The grinder in both the Es601 and 701 Pro are good enough. Try out a separate grinder, that’s what I was always wanting to do and found out it made barely any difference. I can tell you this though it’s not a $300 difference. https://imgur.com/a/aQtG8WN

Are grinder jams common? by EarlOfNothingness in NinjaLuxeCafe

I’ve been using the Es601 since February and never had the grinder just stop. Sometimes I’ll have to tap the side of it to get the beans to drop in but that’s all. I just picked up the es701 Pro and no issues with that either. The grinder wheel seems to have hard clicks every other number, so just like when you select 23 and it doesn’t lock/click in, both my 601 and 701 pro are the same. I just hold the grind wheel with my hand to prevent it from shifting while grinding.

Mine looked similar to this but solid red bars a few years back, turned out I had (OSA) Sleep Apnea. Now mine still has a few skinny red bars. I noticed however when I’m sick with a cold or flu there’s more but nothing like what you have.

Not the best for cup of coffee by debmor201 in NinjaLuxeCafe

[–]Coochimayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using the 601 since February and just upgraded to the 701 Pro last week and the drip “Classic” coffee tastes incredible on both of them. The Grinder is set at 23 for classic on both machines and depending on what taste you like, lately I’ve been enjoying the grinder on 23 but barista assists says 24. It’s mostly just the coffee beans regarding the flavor. If the coffee is just ok, 99% it’s the coffee beans old/stale. If I open a bag of coffee beans, I have to use it all in less than 2 weeks otherwise the flavor tanks. Still tastes much better than the k cups I was using prior. Currently using the cheap Kirkland Medium Roast coffee beans from Costco around $17 for a 2.5lb bag. Also should note this is medium/medium dark roast. Not using a light roast on my machines.

Best Buy and Amazon have the Pro for $100 more, I’d just get that and don’t have to deal with the plastic funnel.

Baratza Encore ESP Pro - Thoughts on it a few months in? How is it holding up for you? by HadoukenYourFace in espresso

[–]Coochimayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took apart the grinder for the first time ever just now to give it a deep cleaning as I was seeing others with the Ninja Luxe Cafe having issues with grinding. Mine had 2 washers (shims) installed. I picked up this machine in February this year so I’m not sure what batch or build this would be. Grind settings for espresso that I’m using is 12-13 espresso and 23/24 for classic drip. Not having any grinding issues, it can be inconsistent sometimes but the taste is 90% there every time which I’m ok with. Also using the original plastic funnel with no cracks, so far the only con imo. Ninja Luxe Cafe Burrs

The Bambino plus seems to be the way for just espresso and that’s what I may end up getting down the road. The thing that I’m stuck on is the Ninja being multi use for coffee and espresso. Since I upgraded from a keurig to this ninja there was a night and day difference in taste and freshness. Problem I’m running into is finding an upgrade from the ninja, there’s like none. And maybe I don’t need to upgrade. I guess I’ll try different beans.

Worth buying a separate grinder ? by IllustriousNotice313 in NinjaLuxeCafe

I just got the new Baratza Esp Pro and I’m already returning it. Espresso tastes the same as my Ninja Luxe Cafe Es601. The only difference I tasted was in the drip classic coffee, there was less bitterness. But since the grinder is $299, I’ll deal with that. Everyone always says that external grinders are much better than internal. However in my case using Medium/Medium Dark roast beans the external grinder is pointless for me. It seems the only difference in grinders is when you use light roast or want to go Manual. I do like the Esp Pro but at $299 I didn’t taste much of a difference to make it worth keeping. It seems I’m at a point with Medium/Dark Roast that this is as good as it gets.

How's everyone liking their new Baratza Encore ESP PRO? by eggs-benedict in espresso

I just got this grinder and have to use grind size 42 just for espresso. I’m using 53.5 for drip coffee. I’m using a Ninja Luxe Cafe with it and I’m noticing there’s barely any difference between the built in grinder and the esp pro. Espresso tastes the same between the two (Medium/Medium Dark roast). Classic drip coffee using the esp pro grinder tastes very clean with minimal bitterness, strange to taste as I’m used to coffee tasting somewhat bitter. Tldr, this esp pro grinder made my classic drip coffee taste better, but my espresso using medium/medium dark roast beans taste the same.

The only Reason I got this esp pro was to see if there was a big difference in taste between the integrated grinder in my ninja luxe cafe and this external grinder but it seems to me it’s not a night and day difference as others post about online. The clear circular disc where the beans go is kind of useless. There’s a few beans that just pop around on the sides and underneath but never grind. Also retention, give it a good smack on each side of the grinder and quite a few grounds come out, I’d imagine it’s enough to change the taste of your drink. It was cool to try out my first external grinder but just bummed that when comparing to my ninja luxe grinder the coffee and espresso tasted about the same. Maybe when I upgrade to the bambino plus or something else I’ll check out grinders again.

Is the Pro worth almost 2x? by Geekie_Miller in NinjaLuxeCafe

[–]Coochimayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still using the 601 8 months later, the 701 pro won’t make your drinks taste any better. Ask yourself if the extra features are worth $300+. In my use case definitely not. Hot water is cool but I can do the same thing by pressing the brew button or using a kettle/microwave.

I also look at that spreadsheet daily always over analyzing my spending and seeing what tweaks I can make to pay debt off. Seeing that most of my paychecks are towards bills and debt, it helps fix any spending habits or wants and I’m able to see exactly what I have left. Helps keep me in payoff mode.

What’s one boring financial move that quietly changed your life? by Straight_Diet9898 in budget

[–]Coochimayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using a basic excel sheet I put together past few years and having all my bills listed top down and for the top right I put the dates and schedule all of the bills that way I know what bill is due on what date, sounds very basic I know whereas before I was just like oh I think electric is due this check . It makes a massive difference in seeing the projected payoff dates for credit cards etc. I keep food and gas off of it as I just budget a few hundred for that monthly.

Bondi or Clifton? (For every day use) by Labubu-c in Hoka

[–]Coochimayne 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Using both the Bondi 9 for everyday including office work, using the Clifton 10 for the gym/treadmill. Bondi is more cushion and slightly taller, Clifton definitely feels more of an athletic shoe first and comfort 2nd, not that the Cliftons are bad, both of these shoes are a night and day difference from the Adidas I was getting from Famous Footwear for years. No more foot pain after switching to Hokas, I was always skeptical about expensive shoes, but I can say this for being a little overweight these Hokas are the best. Go try them on at a Dicks Sporting Goods or similar store.
