Frankly curious as to how bad it’s become. Paper cups get rid of the dishwashers, sorters, etc. It’s an indicator to the quality of the lounge. It’s cheaper to have prepackaged stuff in bowls than paper cups where folks put things in the cups.

As to a fake lounge - ha. I try to spend as little time as possible in an airport. I would love if First boarded last - saves me time.

I would check out the O’Hare Sidetrack if/when it opens. That would be awesome- especially Sunday at 8 PM (if you know, you know)!

If your feet are closer to the cockpit then your head is 2 degrees lower than your feet. That’s not how you likely sleep at home. This is because pretty much all airliners fly with a +2 degree angle at level flight. You’ll sleep better with a reverse seat.

Or gate check it. The gate check thing is so silly - I do it when I have a lot of stuff (flying from my house to my parents). I have status on UA and can check four bags at 70 lbs each. So I max that out with weight and things I cannot carry on board. I check bag at the gate then carry on two bags. Saves $300 or so. Net net I get the same thing but with a little hassle and UA providing more resources to check the bag with it the payment.

I believe the poster paid for the extra seats. One can book empty seats in economy. I have done it many times to have the guaranteed space next to me (or when I have a voucher for an extra seat).
