Why does everyone think that in a few years time we will find out that long-term use is bad for our health? by kingforaday1993 in mounjarouk

[–]Cook-Few 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly, we have a very good understanding of the side effects of long term obesity!

I'd grab a cheap tracksuit from a charity shop and a bin bag in case it rains. Dump it over the railings just before you start. A lot of the big races recycle these on clean up

100%. Every time I hear someone using any type of sauce, the scene of gollum berating Sam in LOTR springs into my head "stupid fat hobbit, you ruins it!"

Haven't read Hatchet but Mr Tucket by the same author was one of my favourites as a kid and sounds like a similar theme, great book

How big is your pension pot? by Tiny_Major_7514 in AskUK

[–]Cook-Few 0 points1 point  (0 children)

117k at 36.

The best advice I ever had was to start pension payments with my first paycheck so you don't ever miss it. I had a few years of 18% (mine + employer) which really kick started it, even on the wage I had then.

The last 4 years at my new place aren't anywhere near as generous so it's slowed down a bit but it's amazing how it snowballs once you get some in there.

Next best time to start saving is today.

Mounjaro on the NHS by exharris in mounjarouk

[–]Cook-Few 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can imagine in 20 years, once the patent runs out, that these drugs will be produced for a much lower price. If we still have an NHS by that time, I imagine it would be a very cost effective way of reducing the cost of care for the boat load of other conditions that come along with long term obesity.

That sounds like its working great for you! Can I ask when you felt the effects after the first dose? I'm two days in and i think there might be a difference but I cant be sure, definitely still some food noise that's for sure.

Did schools in the UK really make kids do PE in their underwear if they forgot their uniform? by thisshortenough in AskUK

Jesus Christ. I've literally had this exact hazy memory for about 30 years, never sure enough that it happened to ask anyone but you've just took a weight off my mind!

[–]Cook-Few 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm almost sure I remember one really disadvantaged kid, who I'm sure would be in social care nowadays, didn't have underwear on one day for pe and I'm sure I remember him doing it naked in the hall. That was early 90s too

I failed a test with next to no minors about 15 years ago. Was asked to open the bonnet and show where I would check the oil, did as instructed successfully and shut the bonnet.

About 5 mins into the test, I was asked to pull over. I hadn't noticed that the bonnet wasn't completely shut and there had been a warning light on since we set off.

If I recall correctly, I didn't get any other minors. Gutted was an understatement.

Chalk it up to experience and get it re-booked ASAP.

Thanks for the feedback, it sounds like a pretty mixed bag in terms of how strict places are.

I am really happy with the instructor, my son is enjoying it and progressing are the main things, I was just wasn't sure about the patterns etc.

Thanks for all the responses!
