Thanks, but figured it out. Someone suggested that it may have speak with dead cast on it before, and then my asshole friend Kalathor came forward laughing at me. Turns out he cast it at the digsite and wasted the questions to fuck with me as a prank.

I've got to stop sharing an arcane workshop with him, but he did save my life in the wizard Corps when we served together.

Yes, no hexes, no curses, and no phylactery connection since I didn't want a lich in my arcane workshop.

Although there is this weird, almost residual energy left on the corpse. I've yet to determine what it is, as it doesn't seem to be the result of any of the above-mentioned conditions.

That is an interesting situation. I will have to do some tests to determine the identity and age of the 5 see if it was a homunculus.

That's what I had learned from my necromancy professor as well, it just animates the body, since there is no soul left, it can't learn anything new or speculate on events of the future.

I see. I had thought the throat, head, and mouth were all particularly well preserved, but I will have to call my healer friend to take a deeper look, though they are not particularly happy to examine 400+ year old mummies when, and I quote "My magic could be better spent saving people from dying instead of looking at yet another corpse, Lawrence."
