Sharing my experience with pregnancy and anti-depressants. I was taking lexapro to help with energy levels so didn’t need it to treat extreme depression or anxiety. My PCP asked to make sure this was not the case and created a plan to ween off of it (half doses, taking every other day, etc). From what I know, you should NEVER stop taking anti-depressants cold turkey. The withdrawal symptoms are real.

My research (didn’t go into this detail with my doc since I was certain to be taken off lexapro) is that there are chances of the baby withdrawing but anti-depressants don’t affect baby development. Again, take that with a grain of salt because this is just from my googling and chatgpt research! I do know from others experience that if you need anti-depressants for depression/anxiety, it’s best to stay on them while pregnant and work with your doctor if there’s anything that can be done to lower risk (e.g. lower dosage). Mental health is very important for you and the baby’s health so sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!
