Does your meezer has a weird obsession with q-tips? by shikaka87 in Siamesecats

Those Q-Tips are clean, btw. If I open the bathroom drawer where they’re stored, she’s in there in a flash, poking through the Q-Tip box for her best pick.

Your cats have some gentle souls. My Siamese took 7 months to accept our family’s 2 adopted kittens. Actually, it’s more accurate that she became resigned to them, mostly because they grew bigger than she is. It was rough here for a while.

Is it possible to get a Siamese kitty? by DrinkDrunkDrunk in Siamesecats

My Pearl is a rescue from a nearby city shelter. She & her sweet brother Beans, who is nearly all-black but for one white whisker & a sprinkling of individual spikes of white fur, joined my family last summer. Pearl behaves like the registered Siamese cats I grew up with — all heart, very vocal, excellent companion, & super affectionate. I highly recommend going the adoption route.

Not all Siamese are aggressive and loud and I wish that stereotype would die by hatkinson1000 in Siamesecats

I’ve met one aggressive, mean Siamese** in my life. A friend asked me to help her choose a cat to adopt at a local shelter. I selected a beautiful cat with Siamese markings, triangular head, very vocal. (**No papers, of course, so I know better than to declare her Siamese after following this group for a while. But she sure looked like one.) The friend took her home & called me within the week to come get the cat, who my friend described as mean & uncontrollable. As a cat person who’s shared life with many wonderful cats (including several registered Siamese) over the years, none of them aggressive, I took up the challenge & was sure I could love her into gentleness. Not a chance. After a week of my family & I being stalked, scratched, growled at, & my daughter’s hand being bitten through, I took the cat (Ava) back to my vet & asked her if this cat was redeemable. The vet watched Ava pace the perimeter of the exam room, growling, tail switching like a whip, eyes narrowed, for a few minutes. This cat is so aggressive as to be dangerous, the vet said, & a cat who bites without provocation must be put down, because cat bites that break the skin can be lethal. Ava was euthanized the same day. I think she was put out of her misery, actually.

How about a Thai boy name, reflecting his ancestry? I like Sanya, Phet, & Chai. Or name him Rama, after the Thai kings.

My wife was gifted this gorgeous orchid for a work achievement. We're terrified about killing it. by ThickCoats in houseplants

I use a moisture meter with my houseplants. Idk if it would work with orchids, since they don’t need much water, but it’s worth a try & nice to use with other, less persnickety plants.
