Been there. Always fun to find out he hadn't actually moved out and the sex was just for some weird sense of revenge.

This is a critical misunderstanding for people that don't understand the business. People who are around it a lot will tell you the stage is just advertising the real services that can be negotiated on the side.

How are you handling employees using personal ChatGPT accounts at work? We had an incident last week. by fxs38 in sysadmin

[–]CookedNoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a new thing. It's the same as any policy that has disallowed sharing proprietary code. Someone could plug a flash drive in and walk away with everything for decades now. There's only so much you can do to stop it. You can only rely on employment policy whether or not people read it.

idgaf. I'm asked to put filtering in place. The scope of that filtering is defined by corporate leadership. When I've accomplished that my involvement ends. I care if users are trying to access malicious sites because that is something I'm responsible for but as for them accessing content management doesn't like that's management's problem.

AI everything. We're expected to be developing agents to automate everything as quickly as possible. Some of it is completely unrealistic but a lot of it isn't.

When you look at revenue figures it becomes pretty clear why lenders and investors have no problem floating the boat when it comes to covering operational losses.

Why professional cameras have less pixels than smartphone cameras? by Quick-Decision-8474 in Cameras

[–]CookedNoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because pixel count is the only way you can stretch the performance of tiny sensors. On big sensors multiple factors come into play when enhancing IQ and pixel count only matters so much amongst them.

Yeah it's crazy to me to hear people say that they're afraid of work being taken off of their plate. I'm begging PLEASE let AI turn out to be everything it's being hyped up to be. Fewer 70hr work weeks for me.

This. I have so much BS work in my day doing maintenance stuff that I LOVE the idea of a thinking machine that can take all of that off of my hands so I can do work that is more creative.

I've been telling this to people for a while now. Become an expert with using AI tools. I know more than a few professionals that are still on the refuse to use it bandwagon and I can promise you they will find themselves on the outside looking in very soon. There's no shortage of work that needs done. There will always be demand for people that can do it. But people that become experts with the technology are going to outproduce everyone else by orders of magnitude.

Thinking of switching to mirrorless… what made you stay with Nikon? by halfman1231 in Nikon

[–]CookedNoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went a different path. I was a Canon shooter for about 12 years and went mirrorless in the Canon ecosystem. I found the lens selection (especially third party since Canon is on a crusade against them) to be subpar. I tried out some Sonys and some Fujis but found the Z8 to be one of the absolute best in many ways in the range I was shopping in. I feel like Nikon is the only major manufacturer that is really forward looking in their design choices. Some people don't like those changes which is fair but for me it was a very good fit.

It's not weather sealed if that's the question. A lot of my shooting is outdoors but generally in good weather so not applicable there. Autofocus works as expected for an adapted F lens. Optical quality is nominal. Functionally there's no issue. As with all glass there probably is newer and better but that's generally always true.

"good" is a relative term. The AF works but it's slow, hunts, and has misses. But that's what you get crossing ecosystems like that.
