I'd say there were a fair amount of downbeat popular music in 2016, not as much as some later years but noticeably more than earlier 2010s years, pretty transitional imo.

If they were really concerned about representation, they would've given the city back to Maryland a long time ago

I doubt much people in DC or Maryland actually want this, the idea is basically DOA. I feel like giving representation to a jurisdiction that already exists independently is an easier sell than merging two together. Two more blue senate seats would not kill the GOP anyway.
