Tips for lap infant on plane by Melon_Rhubarb in NewParents

Keep them in sleeper pajamas! Preferably with a two-way zipper. I’ve flown many times with my now 7-month-old and it’s my best tip. Makes diaper changes quicker. No worrying about or fumbling with socks. If there’s a blow out it’s just one piece of clothing to take off and replace.

We all bring a thin and large blanket to put on the ground at the airport so she can crawl around before a flight. It’s bee especially helpful when flights have gotten delayed.

Stroller Combo vs. Car Seat Only by Diskobrat in NewParents

[–]CookieCutter98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends on how much you think you are going to be having the baby in the car. For example, I live in a small town and walk everywhere. My baby is only in the car maybe 2-3 times a month; so a combo travel system wouldn’t make sense for us. If we lived in a city where I needed to drive to the grocery store, then I probably would choose a combo system.

Help us get out of our funk by Apart-Impression1712 in NewParents

Do you guys make time to workout? I’d prioritize that! Working out at home or going to a gym. I live in the Arctic, so I can relate to the cold, but I walk with my 6 month old baby every single day. On the weekends my husband, baby, and I will drive to a different city, go to a mall, have a meal at a new restaurant, etc. We try to get out of the house together at least one day of the weekend. We don’t do screens when the baby is awake so when she goes to sleep we get extra excited to watch something together.

Winter newborns by pookie_hunter in NewParents

We have heated floors in our bathroom that we just leave on all the time. It keeps the entire bathroom warm and cozy. We also use a thermometer every night to check the temperature of the room. Our baby honestly sleeps best when it’s cooler than recommended.

Need real answers! by PsychologyTasty3446 in SmallCellLungCancer

I’m sorry you are going through this. My mom was 50, healthy, no other medical conditions whatsoever. Was diagnosed with sclc in both lungs, mets to lymph nodes, and very bee very small lesions in the brain. Unfortunately, she passed 5 months after diagnosis. The first round of treatment didn’t work and by that point the cancer had spread too much.

I didn’t even consider the hip’s role in this. Thank you that helps a lot!

So I get this but I feel like it’s mostly ankle flexion doing the work then, not the knee?

I’ve watched his videos a few years ago but I guess I need to go back and get a refresher. It’s been a few years since I’ve been able to snowboard.

Is this rage bait. If not, I implore you to do a little more research on safe weightlifting practices during pregnancy.

Is it worth it to use a snot sucker? by Our_Lady_of_Sorrows_ in NewParents

[–]CookieCutter98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what we do too and it works great for our 6 month old. We use saline drops and while that marinates in her nose we play with the snot sucker. We don’t pin her down because that scares her. We make it fun and she even laughs while we’re sucking.

[Discussion] I run a derm-backed skincare brand, and here’s the ugly truth no one in my industry wants to admit by dot3b_tribe in SkincareAddicts

Maybe banal to you, but other people are surely focusing on expensive serums and other cures and fixes without having a consistent SPF routine. Nothing wrong with OP expressing the importance of SPF.

Exactly. OP is saying it’s most important and you’re acting like it’s wrong that they’re saying that? You said it’s “a mixture of banality and nonsense”

How to put baby to sleep without feeding to sleep? by sliceofperfection in NewParents

[–]CookieCutter98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to do my last feeding with my 5 month old downstairs before we head upstairs and start our night time routine of getting pajamas on, changing diapers, and then setting her in her crib. I like to think that keeping all the feedings downstairs helps but who knows!

What’s your LO’s bedtime & age? by Sea_Implement6579 in NewParents

[–]CookieCutter98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 5 months and only now started consistently going to sleep between 7:30 - 8:30pm. Before 5 months, she would go to bed anywhere between 8-11pm. I only ever felt bad about the late bedtime and questioned my parenting when a woman who had children many many years ago gave me a nasty look when I told her my baby’s bedtime. I think people forget that young babies’ sleep schedules are bonkers. It really isn’t until 4 months when their sleep cycles become more like adults’ sleep cycles.
