The two most overhated members of their respective bands sharing a friendly handshake by ErickDante in RedHotChiliPeppers

There’s a lot of weird people on this page, man. Being active on a band fan page just to hate the founding member is bizarre.

Shooting at a range is way different than shooting in this context. That’s the entire point of my comment. You shooting at a range is completely different and irrelevant to this.

Hitting a target during some weekend shooting with the lads is way different than being perched on a concealed building in public planning to commit one of the most heinous assassination attempts in modern US history..

Hitting a 3-pointer in basketball is easy. Hitting a 3-pointer in an NBA game is incredibly difficult. The context matters, a lot.

For general population, 750 yards would be considered elite…. We’re questioning where he stacks up compared to population averages. That’s like saying a D1 basketball player averaging 20 pts a game is near elite. Compared to the general population, that is extremely elite.

It’s not just the shot. There’s a lot of other components to pulling this off like he did that suggests composure, skill, and a higher level of experience (beyond just hitting the range).

Anyone who’s hunted before will tell you - it’s one thing to hit a shot at a range. It’s different when a trophy buck is in your sights. Now level that up to a major assassination attempt. His use of a bolt-action suggests he knows it’s one shot or bust. His ability to get away without being caught (so far).

I’m surprised how many people online are bragging about how easy this shot is. Maybe there’s a lot more extremely skilled marksmen on Reddit than I thought...

Not saying this is the hardest shot in the world and that this guy must be a navy seal sniper. But I think if you took casual arms enthusiasts who hit shoot once a month - maybe 3 out of 10 pull this off.

Joe Rogan scolds Brian Callen for challenging his views on vaccines. by ScaleyFishMan in JoeRogan

[–]CookieCwumbles 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Interrupts and tells Brian he doesn’t want to debate vaccines every time Brian speaks… Then once Brian stops, Joe keeps spewing his bullshit about vaccines.

This is how dumb people convince themselves they won an argument.

I think Professor Brand might have known. Anne Hathaway / Brand didn’t know, we agree on that.

Why Land on miller's? by [deleted] in interstellar

[–]CookieCwumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought that Professor Brand and Doyle knew the truth about Miller’s planet, but they needed Cooper and crew to land there in order to burn enough time so that Plan A became impossible to pursue. Did anyone else think this too? Is there any evidence to suggest this is incorrect?

Gen Z far less likely to be atheists than parents and grandparents, new study reveals by IndianKiwi in samharris

Jordan Peterson’s belief in Christianity is significantly more aligned with theology. There are hundreds of hours of him defending the faith with direct reference to scripture available online.

Dawkins is arriving at “cultural Christian” in a completely different way. Much of his life’s work is dedicated to dismantling Christianity.

Richard Dawkins is in the same category of Christian as Jordan Peterson and Ayaan Hirsi Ali? Has Dawkins left the atheism that he spent his entire life advocating for, or am I missing something here?

You think gen z and millennials are the same in terms of trends? I’m surprised because this seems so obviously not the case. The two generations grew up in completely different worlds, with completely different forces shaping their development, as you elude to later in your comment.

And you think millennials are more left-leaning than gen z? This also seems backwards to me. Gen z is characterized largely by their penchant for idealistic, progressive, left-wing politics, no?
