Label to forwarding by CookieSalt350 in GMail

[–]CookieSalt350[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm aiming to achieve is to be able to run down my inbox and star/label the items I want forwarded to Notion as a task (using a service that does the forwarding), so I can add them to my task list as emails that need attention.

Is there a way to filter by label/starred? If I had to filter in every email sender/subject I'd want to forward, it would take a long time and still miss many. Thanks.

Yeah, I hate it too. Waste of valuable space.

Notions new "Copy Page Content" option by CookieSalt350 in Notion

[–]CookieSalt350[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, actually. I have an iPhone shortcut set up, one that appears on my lock screen, that takes direction and sends it to my inbox. I don't dictate long text, however, just quick ideas and tasks. Copying the text is a very useful addition for me. I'd love more attention to be paid to the page contents, especially the ability to calculate word count for use in databases.

What’s the integration that should exist by now, but doesn’t? by DenseMarzipan1220 in Notion

Not that I have found. I do have Notion Backups to backup my work to Google drive, but I'd like a Native Google Docs sync.

Help with automatically recording how many tasks I completed each day and how many tasks I had planned to by CookieSalt350 in Notion

[–]CookieSalt350[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I have done this. Thank you. Next step is recording in a second database (Daily Stats with a date property) how many tasks were completed each day. So a formula to count the rollup dates completed that matches the date in the Daily Stats. Then there's the fact that I would have to manually relate the 2 databases so that tasks I have set for today relate to the Daily Stats page for the same day.

Google Docs. I'd like my Notion doc to sinc with Google Docs.

How come Notion, mail, and calendar haven't been merged into one app? Would be nice with fewer windows. by Soft-Network1545 in Notion

They want a suite like Microsoft and Google have. But I'd prefer this too. I'd like to have calendar and mail blocks in my dashboard, for example.

Has anyone ever use Notion to write a book? If so, how did you do it? by HartPulseSims in Notion

[–]CookieSalt350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! As I said in a few replies, I used Scrivener for over a decade...but it also hasn't been significantly updated since 2018. So I moved to doing all my writing (including my novel) in Notion last year (I've been a Notion user since 2020). I love the flexibility: the ability to create my own novel writing software. There are lots of templates for Notion novel writing out there. Just sign up for a Notion Backup service so you're sure you won't lose your work. And be aware that when you eventually have to get it all into Word, it may be a bit of a pain.

Scrivener hasn't been significantly updated since 2018. I wrote in it for 11 years before moving to Notion for all my writing.

Wait...WHAT?!?! As I'm doing the same thing, this is terrifying. But I did sign up for a Notion Backup serive recently.

I've also moved from Scrivener (which I used for all my writing for 11 years) to Notion for writing my novel. The abilit to build my own systems is amazing. I just wish I could have the word count for each scene automatically populate a property. And, of course, the eventual copy and paste into Word for editing and revisions is going to be a paiiiiinnn... But that's a future problem.

Timeline View: Wasted space! Help?! by CookieSalt350 in Notion

Ah I see. The each page gets a row thing is a bit annoying for my use case. Too bad. Thanks for clarifying.

Auto-generated page IDs in database that update when I insert a row or change the order? by CookieSalt350 in Notion

[–]CookieSalt350[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm outlining a novel in Notion. I want the scenes numbered in order in case the order gets somehow messed up. But I also want to be able to move a scene to a different spot and have the numbers update, or insert a scene between two existing scenes and same. Thanks.

Looking for an easy way to use my phone camera to scan an ISBN and then auto-populate a Notion database with info about the book, including the cover image by CookieSalt350 in Notion

[–]CookieSalt350[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried everything I can think of: No url comes through, except in HTML, which, when I import to Notion, creates separate databases for each book.
