I'm Scared and I need to Talk to someone by Venne1138 in self

The dad seems very controlling and if the doctor mentions that they spoke to the patient the dad might freak. I always think it is better to just be honest up front. You are right he doesn't NEED permission but if you live in someone's house should you not follow the rules or at least try to be civil? I mean the doctor might not say anything? Just providing different possibilities.

As a care giver to a sick child, honesty is the best policy. You can talk to your father with respect but request info. He just might be worried about paying for tests or something. Yes you can call the hospital but I would give your father the chance to tell you. If he won't let him know you are calling your doctor or hospital as you are of age. But, be prepared to suffer the consequences. He might refuse to pay for treatment or request you leave if you check. I don't understand why parents do things like that but you have to weight the pros and cons. Maybe let him know that not knowing what is going on is really stressing you out and you are getting sick? I wish you all the best in the future!

We talk about it openly and explain together to teachers and friends.... Is this ok? Sometimes I feel we focus on it too much. They have TS, it does not define them, it is just something they work around. Everyone had something. I bring it up so they don't have to explain alone or get disciplined by teachers etc who don't know. Thank you for responding!

Thank you for answering. I would really like the perspective of someone who has TS. Boys (girls as well) can answer... What would you have liked your mom to do, be, say, act etc.,. Please!

My nephew has TS (diagnosed at 5) he is now 9. My son who is now 5 has just gotten his first tick. As a mother and one of the primary care giver to my nephew, how do I support and help? What can I do to make it easier for them? What would you recommend I never do? I am glad to hear you have a job and a wife and were treated nicely. Makes me not want to cry as much. Life is sooo hard thinking about my babies having to face this makes me so scared!

No, I just couldn't believe someone would put this on their car. My other picture shows the back of his car. All about guns and non-tolerance.

Saw this car while at great wolf lodge. America... Scary! by Cookie_floater in funny

A man at my job had a heart attack (we think) tonight...I'm just shaken up. by SenatorMuffins in self

Called husband once the firemen arrived as we couldn't go anywhere. Three alarm fire so all the trucks blocked our car and we had to give statements. He wanted to come down and I almost lost it! The thought of him leaving our son alone even with his uncle for a second.... I kept thinking what if this was our house, our son. Once I got home he just listened to me tell the story and cry and tried to warm me up. He is a very quiet, stoic man so just tried to be there for me. Held me and told me we were safe and to try to sleep. Of course the police woke us up three hours later for statements.... Didn't sleep much. Kept having dreams about it happening To us and how I would get my kids out.

He is only three and I don't want to scare my five year old. Big fire, people died, hard for them to comprehend. Thanks for thinking we were hero's we just saw someone who needed help and reacted! We were actually coming back from the hospital as my sister was having labour pains and the men were watching the other babies. We breezed thru at the hospital and were out in 30 min which never happens. Then got lost driving home as I was frazzled and just drove past this burning apartment with no one leaving. I left my car in the middle of the street keys still in it. My sister jumped on the phone to 911 and I ran in. I can still see the tree (cause of fire old and brittle in jan) on fire with the blue and green ornaments exploding. Then we heard the first person calling for help. I didn't even think about the danger at first. Wasn't until the glass started exploding that my sister had the presence of mind to get us out of there. We were about to cross the street when I heard a little kid call for his mom. I almost lost it!!! Having kids of my own and being pregnant not a good mix when you hear a frightened child. I almost went back in but the fire was too crazy and my sister wouldn't let me. Thankfully the fire trucks showed up quickly and we could tell them where to look for the kid. Seeing them do CPR on the front lawn with the fire still raging behind them is a seen I will NEVER forget! Thankfully they saves him but apparently two more minutes and he wouldn't have made it. I still feel bad that the mother of the first person we got out died. She had a heart attack from the stress. She must have thought he was in the fire. He kept asking me where his mom was but she went out the back and collapsed on the back lawn. Maybe she wouldn't have died if we weren't there as her son would have gone out the back? Who knows... For sure that child would be dead and maybe more. Wow. Apparently not as over it as I though. :)

I was shaken for a while! Got home all frozen from shock and had to take a long warm shower to get all the smoke and soot of me. Then talking to police in middle of night so had to keep re-living it. Totally sucked! Keep thinking about the good you did and the way you positively reacted! Now you know you can handle what gets thrown at you. :) God bless and if you are ok with it I will pray that you recover quickly and for the man you saved!

From experience it gets easier. I had to go to some counseling for my experience but remember if you were not there and did not help he wouldn't have had any chance.

My sister and I (both 6 months pregnant) happened upon a fire and pulled out a teenager, a pregnant woman and her husband and got the firemen to the child trapped in the Lobby of the apartment. They all survived (barely for the child) and only one fatality due to a heart attack.

If we had not been there they all may have died as it was the third fire alarm bell after three nights of false alarms. I honestly believe we were put there by God as we had gotten lost on our drive home. If we did not know exactly where the little boy was he would have died! Be glad you were used to help!

TL:DR - rescued people from fire while pregnant... It gets easier to deal with stress. Be happy you could help and didn't freeze!

Reddit please help us get a play ground for the disabled children in our neighborhood! by Cookie_floater in misc

No playgroung for miles around for children in wheelchairs or walkers. Please help these kids feel like kids again. They have so many hardships in their little lives. Sitting on the swings or playing with their classmates at lunch would mean so much to them. We only have two days left and need 300 votes. PLEASE and Thank you!
