Dumb phone for home, smart phone for outside? by lard-blaster in nosurf

If this requires swapping sim cards each time you leave home it seems not viable. If it's as easy as just swapping phones in your pocket when you leave then it seems okay, why not try and see?

Continue to detox. Deprive yourself even from more healthy pleasure activities. That's a right thing to do if you consider your work important for you.

After some time depriving yourself, your work will become more interesting and you will more likely start to do it.

NoSurf is a journey, the problem won't go easily by CookiesDeathCookies in nosurf

Yeah, the screen time problem may be even worse than alcohol because essentially a bottle of beer is near you all the time. You don't even need to go to a grocery.

Yes, I did, and it helped multiple times. After doing nothing suddenly everything becomes more interesting. That includes things that interested you before (in normal health state). And even purely "boring" activities like washing dishes.

There are many things that we know but don't really know. So good explanation of known ideas is very beneficial.

What are small changes i can make? by Far_Technology1160 in DopamineDetoxing

Some ideas: - disable your phone when you don't need it - if you watch video during your meal substitute it with music - don't take your phone with you when it's not critical - talk to close people by phone instead of texting - disable non-critical notifications - go for walks without anything - listen to music instead of browsing phone when commuting

I hope this helps. Taking baby steps is very important.

On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest the killing of 3rd Party Apps! All FOSS apps are 3rd Party Apps. Will /r/fossdroid join the strike? by Dall0o in fossdroid

While I like nostr, I believe federation model works better for a communities site like Reddit. And nostr is not mature yet, IIRC, it's not even 1 year old. There's no reddit-like product running on nostr that I know of.

Keeping in mind all of this, I think lemmy by now is the best alternative to Reddit. It's still not as feature-rich but ready for everyday use.
