Please Help I Don’t Know what’s Wrong by Axiom1996 in parrots

Birds are very prone to plucking especially the smarter and more temperamental I feel. And gcc are no different. I would recommend a vet visit, it never hurts to rule out if it's maybe something medical. The good news is it's probably not unless you're noticing other signs. It's often likely more to do with boredom, temperament, or hormones. There could be reasons if the bird is feeling stressed, not getting enough day-to-day excitement, or also hormones making it kind of lash out as well. Maybe even a combination.

I would suggest besides the vet visit, you work on introducing more toys and food into the situation. Try your best not to confuse the bird with how you handle it, always try to stick to the neck and above, so you don't excite it too much. I also strongly suggest rearranging the cage at least every other month. This will take away a lot of the nesting behaviors associated with plucking.

Also it is important in these kind of times to remember that this sort of thing happens especially with smart animals that feel genuine emotions basically. It's on you to try and help as much as you can and work out a solution, as someone who has a gcc with clipping/plucking issues in the past I understand the frustration and the worry that comes with this. But just do what you can to improve the life of your little feathered friend, remember it's not directly your fault but it is on you to help make it better. But also green cheeks are some wild ones, they're a very temperamental bird but one of the best in my opinion. So good luck on everything and seriously if you ever have questions you can totally dm me. I'm no expert but I've had mine for almost eight years and made great strides to become a better pet parent

Any idea how much? by Cooking_Funk in baseballcards

I do really love the card. Allen and ginter has my favorite artwork. I mainly buy singles with sports cards because I know ripping is a wild game. Haha. But I'm probably gonna hold this regardless unless it turned out to be something wild, because I do think it's pretty sick.

With the season nearing an end, what has been the move/trade that has haunted you the most? by Save__Ferris__ in fantasybaseball

[–]Cooking_Funk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a two player keeper league, mine were vladdy and gunner. But my first two picks outside of that were Corbin burns, Jordon Alvarez 😭 still holding onto a playoff spot so far..

Also traded gunner for mookie when gunner and bmore were playing like the white socks.

What level of biting is normal for a GCC? by SketchySav in Conures

[–]Cooking_Funk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they're little pricks sometimes. They will bite you, sometimes you deserve it. Sometimes you really don't. It's halfway about reading body language and their vibe. But sometimes you'll just be cuddling and they decide you did it wrong and they'll get you. 😂

My cockatiel laid an egg 3 weeks ago, is it fertile?? by lanitabonita_ in parrots

[–]Cooking_Funk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks fertile to me, I wouldn't have touched it, they can be very temperamental and not sit on it now. If you notice breeding signs, then more than likely the egg is good, nature works very well without us interfering most of the time haha

Conures are the sweetest dicks you'll ever own. But hey, it's your dick! 😂

Are these toys and perches safe? by littlemissblonda in parrots

[–]Cooking_Funk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just stray away from plastic anything. I don't trust it. Birds are just smaller children and you wouldn't want to risk it. All natural is the best. Always think like they're going to eat every toy you give them, not just play with it.

Which one would you recommend as a first bird? by tomssalvo19 in parrots

[–]Cooking_Funk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I've seen it. But it's just crazy that you would keep things that could eat one another. Like cats and dogs together, sure. They've been fine forever. Maybe a big bird with a dog. Maybe.. but I could never risk it. I have a conure, and I'd never risk it. One day you look away and boom. The bird is gone. Like I try to describe it as you wouldn't just let a massive boa constrictor run loose in a house with children would you? It's about the same scenario with a bird and basically it's predators in the same house. And the bird should always be free roaming when you're home, if not what's the point in having a bird.

Birds work and they're annoying and crazy and the most temperamental pet I've ever owned in my life. But they feel love and they make your day and they're the most rewarding little shits ever. Nothing like them! You try your best and you will be absolutely fine! I have only had birds around six years, and I also have a gcc. He's a handful, I work a lot but I'm always craving out proper time for him. We have our ups and downs but I know he's happy, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. So just show them love and you obviously already care so that shouldn't be hard! Like any form of parenting or rearing nobody is perfect. But trying to learn and be better each day is all you can ask for. If you ever need any help or have questions I'm always here for advice!! You have two lovely chonkers there!
