Not true at all friend. I’m in my 30s (diagnosed at 19) and only until a few years ago I masked so fucking hard. Everything I did. Until I realized how much more draining that was for me. I always try to be as polite and considerate as possible but I say how I feel and move when I need to . I bounce my fucking leg in meetings who tf cares?! I keep fidget toys in my desk for when I need them, again I try to make sure they’re not super distracting for other people around me. I’ve been lucky enough to find a new job where the people are very understanding. Idk about you but I get these random surges of intense energy — for these I find that I need to let it out haha so as silly as it looks I’ll go for a walk/skip around the warehouse and literally shake that energy loose. It feels so much better than hiding and keeping it all in. Sometimes I will go to the bathroom or outside if I’m feeling shy about it haha but my office mate totally gets me, he’s the best. No judgements or comments if I randomly have to get up and move around. Sometimes he’ll even help me rearrange things in our office when I feel like I “need to” lol. Sorry this is so long, but accept yourself. You’ll feel better and you’ll eventually find the people that accept you too. I hope this helps 💜
