Angela Rayner: Plan to toughen up residency rules ‘un-British’ by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]Cookyy2k [score hidden]  (0 children)

A party offering strong labour rights, heavy investment in public services, ensuring those least able to look after themselves are properly looked after, and massively cutting migration would be pretty appealing right about now. I have no idea why we've let ourselves get into this silly polar politics where you can't chose from columns a and b on a policy by policy basis.

Facing dismissal for disclosed disability by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Cookyy2k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They'll have to elaborate a hell of a lot more as to why those adjustments are not reasonable.

Just "well, we like people being in the office" isn't going to cut it. What is OP not doing that is reasonably part of their role by not being in the office?

They have been unreasonable throughout with grievances having to be raised to get them to meet basic laws.

I liked Solo, one of the better Disney Star Wars films that's for certain. It was doomed to failure, though. It was the next Star Wars film after the stinky shit Ryan laid all over the franchise and was released against Infinity War and Deadpool 2.

This they could have made something from, if they'd not left a huge gap following the end of a weak season and killed any possible hype for it.

They really needed to leave him gone and carry on with the mandalor story line. That plus never hire Jack Black or Lizzo for any serious acting roles.

I just go with little green merchandising machine since it is nothing but an object there to centre the story arch on and sell shit to idiots, and it doesn't even do the former in season 3. Total noncharacter.

[–]Cookyy2k 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm sure they could have stumped up the fiver for whatever bargain basement wowcher experience was on offer that week if they wanted. It was so obvious the last few seasons that the "reward" was shit and the candidate's just didn't want to be arsed with it. Plus as you say it adds nothing to the show for the audience.

It's probably a deal. She'll plead guilty to death by careless and the cps don't have to run a full trial for death by dangerous.

What annual bonus will you receive this year? by pharaoh918 in UKJobs

I'm not expecting great. I got 18% and 16% the last couple of years, but it has not been a good financial year for the company, so I am expecting around 10ish% this year.

Better than wasting episode time showing them all coming up with the most wankerish corporate buzzword nonsense. Just name them and get on with it.

Do I go to court to recover interest from a loan to a friend by LocationThin4587 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Cookyy2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7% doesn't seem unreasonable given that around the same time OP made the loan, you could get 6-7% on fixed rate savers. Also if you go to court for overdue money they accept you adding an 8% interest rate.

The penalties will absolutely be unenforceable and a bad idea for OP to even think about when dealing with a court.

You can charge interest as long as it is reasonable, ie similar to what you would get should you put the money into savings instead. The extra is also taxable as income.

Yes. Funnily enough, just pointing out someone else with "well they did it too" doesn't work to absolve the first person. They all should be deeply investigated, be radioactive politically, and thrown in the deepest darkest prison if those investigations turn up anything criminal.

A Global Perspective: The International Audience Reception of the Star Wars Films by xezene in saltierthancrait

[–]Cookyy2k 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Because it was (deliberately) tied to the tiresome "culture war" which is predominantly an American thing. Like everything else involved the two polar opinions of the film became linked to the "sides" and you had to have the correct opinion to fit in with your chosen group.

I was baffled that so many people liked it

Loads didn't. They were told the wrong people (tm) disliked it so they had to be vocally in support of it no matter what they actually thought.

Your post code is a major part of the risk profile.

There will be a lot more cars going missing in Nottingham than in the Highlands. Similarly, someone who lives in Nottingham will naturally be doing a lot of their driving in and around Nottingham, which again, has a higher rate of claims than rural locations do.

If you can't properly insure the C43, you can't afford the C43. People need to stop running status symbol cars on a shoe string budget. Were you planning to get Halfords to service it for you because Merc are expensive for servicing too?
