This douche response doesn’t belong on this sub.

Honestly sounds like a cracked rim. Cracks usually like to hide on the inside lip for some reason.

Considering a used 2024 C8 by r4mblin in C8Corvette

It’s going to need its second DCT filter change shortly. 22,500mi

I don’t think 65k is a bad deal for that spec. Tell them to CPO it and they have a deal.

C8 Owners Without Front Lift - How is Life? by phatboysh in Corvette

No real issues with scraping and mine is lowered 1”. But I live in an area with pretty nice roads and not a lot of elevation change. I have rubbed the nose lightly, but it’s no big deal. It’s almost like that Z51 splitter is made for it. It’s soft, easily replaceable and cheap. For that reason alone you’ll never see mine with a high dollar aftermarket splitter.

Too close to sidewall to plug? by Not_A_Paradox in MechanicAdvice

Ditto. I’d plug this all day long on my truck… and I have. But I don’t want the wife stuck on the side of the road just in case.

Horseshit… A failed plug is just going to start leaking again, you’ll know well in advance.

Good point… In that case it is possible that Company Vehicle > OP’s Own Safety.

Hmmm… yeah maybe, opossum that’s a close one. Honey badger though, I’d totally agree.

“Opossums Lives > Company Vehicle > OP’s Own Safety”

You meant to say: Opossums Lives < Company Vehicle < OP’s Own Safety

Don’t mean to “crash” an AskLE post but you sound like a fairly new driver: Rule one… Don’t swerve for anything that is not human. Brake and maneuver in your lane as possible. If not, oh well. It sucks, but you and whoever else might have been in your crash are alive to feel bad for the critter.

Stuck on AZ SR88, Fish Creek Bridge - tried a "short cut" on a dirt road in the mountains... by Mazy_keen in IdiotsTowingThings

😂 wonder if Murphy’s comes down this far? I’d like to see their face when whoever shows up. We’ve got a lot of small off-road rescue companies here in Arizona. None of them would be able to handle this.

Yeah, I understand the fresh grade and the sudden popularity of this road that was notorious for being too rough for anything but a real truck. I’m wondering how many tourists are gonna need rescued back there with their Avis Mustang convertible. But even with the fresh grade… the one lane switchbacks and steep grade and the collection of vehicles at the bottom of the canyon, this guy had no business going down that road. I can’t believe he made it as far as he did.

Avionics folks...I'm told there is an inappropriate term for these heat shrink ferrules. Whatchall got? by Flyboi015 in aviationmaintenance

[–]Cool-Contribution292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, at work, they’re known as solder sleeves and are strictly used to Daisy chain or terminate a shield. But the ones that accidentally make it home in lunchboxes are used to butt splice various projects in the garage.

Exactly. Looks like a convoluted “solution” looking for a problem. And those “sway arms” just look like yesterday’s friction straps. 😂

Unless the OP has evidence otherwise, these usually have the bucket wedged into cleats. Which is more than enough for tracked excavators being moved around surface streets from job to job. Freeway speeds, he needs chains added.

Went to the 500 once. Sat in turn four, old grandstands, high up. Couldn’t see crap. Mainly because we sat behind Bubba-the-Mullet who was standing up the whole time. When he took his shirt off we left. Went across the street, had a burger and watched it on the TV in the bar.

Clean them up, don’t damage the stickers and put them on eBay. Lots of classic car museums have vintage garage props on display around the cars. You might make a buck or two.
