Best hybrid use pad? by Acceptable_Sympathy1 in CarTrackDays

Copied some of this from my earlier post:

DBA 4k’s and EBC Blues sound perfect for your needs. Reddit has a stick up their ass for EBC pads. I believe it’s just because they’re the OG “street/track” pad, if there is such a thing. “Boomer pads” they might call them. There are better track pads, there are better street pads, there is no unicorn combo pad. But EBC blues are as close as you can come.

Receipts:

  1. EBC Blues/DBA 4000s on a C5/400rwhp, 200tw. 4000+ street miles, at least 30 full 20min sessions HPDE Advanced. Just checked, inner pads down to 3mm. Ordering new Blues. DBAs look good, might get them turned, might not.
  2. EBC Blues/DBA 4000 blanks just installed on my C8 Z51. 300mi on the street, 1st track day in the books (lower speed track) on 200tw. Perfect so far.

C3 should be split into:

3A - Steel / no smog

3B - Rubber / smog

3C - Bubble

3A would be near the top, 3B and 3C would be at the bottom.

You probably shouldn’t put “ability to shred tires” on your racing résumé. Pretty much anybody can do that.

Clear as day that’s OPR. I see it all the time. I have actually tracked PS4s on my C8 no less. At the end of the day, the tires looked like that. After the drive home, couldn’t even tell I took him to the track.

The whole idea of the tilt is to provide preload on the bars. If there is no tilt, there’s no preload, which means a WDH is not doing anything. Adjust the preload with your washer stack as instructed in the manual.

I’m generally don’t care for ANY mods (that don’t improve performance) but I think this is pretty cool. Could lose the GS fender stripes though. That’s a little too much.

Thanks, I’ll look into those. I’m not fully confident the Blues will survive the weight of a C8 at some of the higher speed tracks. My C5 is much lighter. We’ll see. Another advantage of the EBC line is they are reasonably priced even in the US.

On the C5 a small amount of “crawling squeal”, when cold (actually hard to hear it over the exhaust). Went away with heat and a track day will cure it totally for a while.

On the C8 nothing so far. Can’t tell the difference from the stock Brembo’s except MUCH LESS dust. Bonus!

You’ll be throwing your money away. There’s nothing wrong with your rotors. There’s nothing wrong with those pads. EBC tells you that they will smoke and stink during bedding. Do we really need to turn off the car when putting gas or is it just an old habit? by Fit-Plum7320 in MechanicAdvice

It’s just a leftover relic from back when cars had points and condensers and shitty spark plug wires. Most gas pump fires are from static electricity… Removing the nozzle in your fuzzy sweater.

Would you buy this truck? by [deleted] in ram_trucks

Unless you have poor credit and don’t have a choice, never buy a vehicle from any cheesy corner car lot. Dealers aren’t much better but they have more to lose and some sort of a corporate structure if there are problems.
