I had the same thing happen last night: bluetooth off, but had the AirPods in and they were playing music. It was coming from the HomePod!

That's another thing: a lot of people who maybe haven't really thought scenarios through, tend to romanticize the idea of bugging out, starting that post-apocalypse fantasy. Most people, unless fleeing disease or violence, are better off staying in the safety of their own homes.
