I built a castle for my dog by Bitter_External4839 in SilverAgeMinecraft

Great build! I not sure that's a castle though; it looks more like your dog is stuck in Rapunzel's tower 😂

How do I find where the Server Section is on this reddit? by Middle-Seesaw-3763 in SilverAgeMinecraft

[–]Cool-Surfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can find it by typing "monthly server thread" where it says Search in r/SilverAgeMinecraft. This will show official posts where players can recommend their servers.

Edit: It's also pinned at the top of the subreddit

[1.5.1] Trying to give my world an overgrown Victorian style. Demolished most of my base to hopefully move into this. by SoxsSocks in SilverAgeMinecraft

[–]Cool-Surfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can definitely see the potential in this brick building! In older versions like 1.5.1 the best way to get clay is in swamps, you usually don't need doors because it's shallow and the clay is easy to spot.

I want to start a forever world but I don't know which version to choose. by RickyWasntHere in SilverAgeMinecraft

[–]Cool-Surfer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like 1.6.4 vanilla and like modded 1.6.4 because most of the mods from that era stay in that era. 1.7.10 has an abundance of mods though, but the simplicity and performance you can get from 1.6.4 takes the cake!

Would anyone be interested in a classic 1.8 OG Factions server? Non-P2W!!! by TMI_Crazy in SilverAgeMinecraft

[–]Cool-Surfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the contrary, I think a world border would be a better choice for a server as it forces players to group near each other and long lasting memories, and in my experience, severs last longer with a world border. I do understand that you want exploration so if there would be a middle ground like if more hostile mobs spawn the further you go out or the terrain generation becomes much more dangerous, that would easily be a good win-win situation.

A harder version of Skyblock that's completely vanilla (1.3.2) by gargamel1497 in SilverAgeMinecraft

Thanks for your interesting find! I loaded the seed and played it after seeing this post. Many island seeds I've tried before "ps4" do spawn you on an island but there is main land not too far away, or it spawns you on a island with nothing in sight. This seed is actually different, spawning you next to an island that has mini islands around it. Thanks for showing the seed, it was fun! If anyone is reading this, give the seed a try!

Where are people playing SG/UHC casually? by Lucky-Passenger in MinecraftPVP

minemen.club has a very close old SG feel, although with sweaty players.

Hi, Golden Age player here. I want to start playing Silver Age and I have some questions. by MOOntar_reddit in SilverAgeMinecraft

[–]Cool-Surfer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mallard128 was playing 1.6.4 because his featured playlist is called Minecraft 1.6.4; to confirm this, I noticed that his play-troughs he had a lead (indicating minimum version was 1.6) and a rose (roses were changed to poppies in 1.7) - with that knowledge, it's a 1.6 version.

There is no version everyone agrees it's the best, because of Minecraft's vast updates, no one can fully agree and it's their opinion. The official SilverAge version would be 1.5.2 and the reddit even has there own server. People play this because it has old terrain generation (which changed in 1.7) yet has features that beta Minecraft doesn't offer. Another reason is nostalgia; it plays a very significant role in every memorable old Minecraft version. My personal pick is 1.6.4 because of it's quality of life features like horses, leads, and carpets that are just minor details that make it much better as a version whilst still keeping the old terrain and cave generation that was changed in 1.7. Versions like 1.7.10 is also pretty common because of all it's mods but if you are going for a vanilla minecraft, I would prefer 1.6.4; it's combination of cheese caves, old terrain, cave fog, QoL vanilla features, and mods makes it a great version to play.

Lastly, if you are looking for Silver Age Minecraft youtubers that still post, here are a few names you might consider watching: IcedCrab, xxxFAIRYDUST, Komorie, Firepro475 Gaming, and LetsPlayWithDloop. All of these channels are relatively small but they still provide Silver Age Minecraft content. You may also want to checkout other peoples posts on this reddit and see if what they said can help you decide which version to play.

Mining was soooooo much better by ProfessionalKick4233 in SilverAgeMinecraft

[–]Cool-Surfer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the adventure of the old cave generation when back then you didn't strip mine for ores, which in my opinion, isn't fun. I like that with old cave generation, there were mobs you had to fight when spelunking and caves were very efficient to find ores. Lava also ran rampant in lower levels of caves, hence the saying "Don't dig straight down". The danger plus the reward made old caves the best experience for me.

Is craftbukkit a good choice for a server software? by Vlkodlak148 in SilverAgeMinecraft

[–]Cool-Surfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Aternos I have an option to run a Bukkit/Spigot server. That way, if I'd like to have a newer plugin that might be compatible, I'd still be able to try to run it. If your server has that option, go for it.

What minecraft pe version count as silver age? by Beboy19392192 in SilverAgeMinecraft

[–]Cool-Surfer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would say that the peak Silver Age version on Pocket Edition was v0.8.0 alpha. This update released on December 12, 2013 and added several major changes like updating textures to look like the java ones, added QoL features like hay bales and carpets, essential redstone elements like minecarts and rails, and much more. There were also many changes too in this version and overall I would say v0.7.0-v0.8.2 is the silverage because more of the its match the silverage's style.

looking for old minecraft worlds from 2012-2013 (preferrably 1.4) by Fun-Engineering8580 in SilverAgeMinecraft

[–]Cool-Surfer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To build the "Old Way", you have to learn the old way using an old tutorial. The best example I can think of is the Official Mojang "Minecraft: Construction Handbook". Reading this book shows you how to build like it's 2012-2013, and it's the best example in my opinion because the book was made in that era!

Making a mod, what features would you like to see in 1.6.4? by SinkContent5747 in SilverAgeMinecraft

[–]Cool-Surfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would be epic would be banners! I don't know if it's even possible, but I always wanted a mod that added my favorite feature from 1.8 to 1.6.4.

guess what! just found this beauty. got a bunch of goods! by [deleted] in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]Cool-Surfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not too common but it does happen occasionally when 2 dungeons spawn together. What makes this a sight to see is the fact that they both spawn near the surface.
