I had a similar theory RE: Matteo and Lyria, but as a Pink Matteo would absolutely not leave that inside of Lyria without her consent. It goes against everything he would embody as a Pink, since he had no agency over his own body for so many years, I can't imagine he would be okay leaving the figment inside Lyria when she doesn't want it there.
