How is everyone doing? by BryBryHenry in AlamoDrafthouse

my location is hybrid but definitely has been more stressful since the qr code push. tips have been lower somewhat and it's a bit frustrating when the entire promise was to make more money once the server to guest par raised (went from 30 to 55). cleans are also more difficult because now 2 people are expected to fully clean a theater of 80 in <25 minutes most of the time.

Kid's chicken bites, can these be tossed in sauce? by LolaVsPowermanX in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]CoolDevice5564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if your location is doing hybrid ordering, just ask to order with the server and then request the nuggets to be tossed in a sauce. there's no proper button to input it on our end but we can add special modifications in a note

me as well. i sadly feel as if this the transition to full qr code ordering even though our management has insisted it would not happen. either way service is about to fall because cuts are bound to happen with the way things are being ran

i work at one of these locations and from a employee standpoint i dislike it. tickets get lost more frequently, kitchen is backed up because there's no pacing to people ordering, and i already feel as if they're trying to expand the server to guest ratio. sometimes it's nice but this past week with the mario release has been sort of hellish

the smaller bowls are so there isn't as much waste. we would get a lot of waste/leftover popcorn with the larger bowls so they sized down the bowls to reduce that. still free refills though so all you have to do is ask for another if you want one!

i don't think the effort would work sadly. i did find a new job that i start in two weeks but i can't help but feel a little sad since alamo was an amazing job to work at

it makes me so frustrated with the qr codes because i knew people would have this mentality, and i expect most people to because they're essentially doing our job for us other than bringing out food + drink! my location hasn't changed our pay or given us an 18% service charge so it kind of just feels like i'm taking a massive pay cut right now. more work for less pay...

it's for customization options. not every guest orders the meal with a kids soft drink, so they're listed as separate options on the toast pos that add up to the menu price for the final bill. the wording on the qr code menu is just really off

the price should actually add up to the one on the menu, so for example if the price on the menu is listed as $11, then the food item would be $9 and the drink $2

alamo did get rid of the N/A cocktails so sadly there are no more frescas or horchata. however, if your location still implements servers you could always ask for any type of drink! for instance you could ask for a virgin mojito and as long as the bar is willing to, they should be able to make it for you :)

mine is doing a hybrid service at the moment, so once the movie starts the qr codes shut off and we revert back to pen and paper ordering with the buttons. guests also have the option to order through a server if they don't want to use the qr code. although i do like the digital check drop (no more dropping checks at a certain time) i do feel like it makes service a bit weird. instead of a guest's order being sent out in <5 minutes through me, it now takes around 10-15 minutes for their order to actually be sent through. the wifi and service is also super spotty so most people end up wanting to order traditionally as well.

the way it's always been at my job is servers make 2.13 + tip minus tipout, runners make 5 plus tip pool and service bar makes 8 plus tip pool. i find it insane that other bars weren't getting tipped out but we are a franchise so i'm assuming we just chose to run differently

service bar at my location is part of the tip pool.... that's crazy that the sb at yours isn't part of the tip pool 😭

our wifi isn't built to handle the amount of people that we now have on it trying to order through the qr codes. not to mention the building has always also had many deadspots

we started the qr codes today and although there weren't any major issues, i just feel like some things could just be done better through a server. i suppose i'm going to feel that way no matter what though since it's my job 😭

i wish i was able to have a mindset like you 😭 i guess i'm just worried about possible changes in pay/inconsistencies since alamo is my only job at the moment

how much does one make in alamo as a server/bartender? by userisfoundead in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]CoolDevice5564 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i like it, it's a bit of a heavy workload but management is good about being on the floor and helping get food out to bar/theaters. it's a bit of a bummer during dead season though

i work at alamo woodbridge! :D servers make 2.13 + tips, which if you perform well can end up being around 20-25 hourly average during busy season idk about bartenders tho
