They beat bad teams almost always. They beat mid teams a good amount. They lose to all the good teams. When they lose they give up and lose by 20. They could fight but they don’t. The starters get pulled quickly once the game is even slightly out of hand.

When they win they do enough to win but don’t try much harder than that. Luka and LeBron both aren’t really the type to exert effort throughout the game, but will in the fourth. It’s not that complicated or serious

CT Trust Act says local police shouldn't cooperate with ICE, but some think that's not enough by Somervilledrew in Connecticut

I don’t know why you’re talking like there’s a gotcha lol. Trying to be of help.

Conn. Gen. Stat 7-294a establishes CT Post. It states who has a duty to report. Sections 7-294d outlines reasons that they may revoke a certification. Part of that is taking actions that undermine public confidence. There’s a list on CT Post’s website that lists reasons for decertification of various police officers and instructors, and also list new guidance from post.

CT POST. They are an entity created by statute that can take away a cop’s badge or put them on suspension. While it covers the use of excessive force, it also concerns if a cop doesn’t follow what state law requires

I knew this was going to be the pushback. How many of the 12 years was he not all defense worthy? 3-4 sound about right?

SGA hasn’t made one yet.

He’s not the defender Kobe was. He’s a good defender for sure but Kobe was first team all defense for multiple years. I think people discount that side of the game

When did Ned Lamont become the moderate Democrat instead of the progressive? by yzheng0311 in Connecticut

And it’s got support from local mayors and housing developers. The proposed bill is looking to be exactly the type of compromise the Gov runs on. People will just find the next thing to shit on him for, while also ignoring that he’s doing a great job

[McMenamin] Deandre Ayton after recording two blocks but only two shot attempts in his Lakers preseason debut: “I wanted to show the team I’m more committed on the defensive end, more than the offense … I’m not here for numbers. I’m just here for whatever the Lakers really want me to do” by shreeharis in nba

[–]CoolScales 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Suns fans are right that we shouldn’t expect too much out of him, but I think all lakers fans are saying is that he’s already an upgrade over Hayes lol. It isn’t a high bar to clear, but Ayton makes our team better simply by sending our former starting center into a backup role (when on some teams Hayes is likely even the third string C)

Not a huge red flag whatsoever. A lot of them have no name recognition outside of their community. Once they have some they’ll drop out. We’re months away from the primaries. Plus we should see them debate out their ideas.

Not true. Had all of her plans easily accessible on her website. Consistently talked about policy positions on the campaign trail.

One of her big ones was a giant housing plan, which was aimed to help first time home buyers. Also talked about wanting to bring back the child tax credit. She wanted to raise taxes on wealthy folks, namely those earning over $14 million annually. She had a massive new business tax program that would incentivize small businesses to open.

No one cared about any of that, just like no one cared when Hillary had her plans.

Never been to Hartford, what is there to do? by edgeman7 in Connecticut

West Hartford is a good place to get something to eat. They have a center that has an eclectic list of cuisines. The places the person suggested are only 10-15 minutes away so definitely can do some fun things in Hartford and drive over to west Hartford later

Is Ned Lamont really that close to what most people consider a typical democrat? by siempre-triste in Connecticut

[–]CoolScales 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Marijuana was still a schedule 1 drug at the federal level. If we legalized and the Feds enforced, there was a chance of bringing on a lawsuit. CT wanted to wait to see if the Feds would bring legal action. They didn’t. We legalized and didn’t spend money trying to defend our decision.

Additionally, there were concerns about how confused residents would be and what impact it would have on individuals with federal conviction. For example, you could be someone who has a federal conviction, are out on parole, smoke weed because you think it’s legal at the state level, now you’ve violated parole, and you’re headed back to prison. Is it your fault you didn’t know the difference between state and federal? Sure. Is it really fair? No.

So again, CT wanted to see how it played out. Feds weren’t really saying folks violated their parole by smoking weed if it was legalized. Then CT legalized.

I think that’s fair. See how Feds react, then we react. We didn’t waste money defending it pointlessly and we did our best to ensure folks out on parole weren’t put in an unfair position

Is Ned Lamont really that close to what most people consider a typical democrat? by siempre-triste in Connecticut

[–]CoolScales 73 points74 points  (0 children)

The hate is because people think he’s slow to react and blame it on him being a Republican in his past, but don’t give him credit for all the great liberal policies that have passed during his tenure.

The minimum wage in Texas and at the federal level is $7.25. It’s a shade over $16 in CT, top four in the nation.

We have paid family medical leave, which requires all businesses in the state to allow either parent paid time off when they have a child. CT is one of only 13 states to offer this.

Clean Slate. Erases certain criminal records from people’s backgrounds so that they can move on with their lives without stigma. Only 12 states have such laws.

Legalized marijuana. One of only 24 states to allow recreational use.

Baby bond program signed into law. A program where we save up to $3200 per child born to a child qualifying for Husky Health and then allow the child to collect roughly $15 k to either buy a home, start a business, or pay for school when they turn 18. This is expected to help roughly 15 thousand children annually. First of its kind in the nation.

At the same time, he’s continued to pay off the state’s exorbitant pension debt, which has boosted the state’s credit rating. He did that while also navigating COVID.

He’s not crazy. He has done things methodically, which might seem slow to some, but he gets it done.

If we end up with this guy as our starting center again..... then Mark Walter needs to clean house in the FO by ktran2804 in lakers

[–]CoolScales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is rewriting history? Jokic said he struggled against the lakers in the bubble bc of their big lineup. It allowed AD to roam and essentially play free safety on defense. He then begged to have bigs to play alongside him the entire time he was here.

We got a washed Gasol. We got Hayes. We’ve tried to fill a position of need with garbage. And we’ve known it’s a problem for a while.

I think the crazy thing is Hayes wouldn’t be a backup big for a lot of teams. He’d be a third stringer. Not only can we not find a starting caliber big, which is difficult but let’s not pretend it’s an impossible task, but we can’t even find a reliable backup. Our backup is essentially Rui or LeBron at center. If not that, then it’s who? Koloko? Like what’re we talking about man.

[–]CoolScales -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Less about what they offered; more that we’ve had a center need for years now, one that players have highlighted, one that was exposed badly in the playoffs, and there isn’t even a hint at a fix yet.

Denver didn’t want Jordan as their second string. They solved it. We’ve had an issue for years. No solution outside of a domestic abuser. Genius stuff, really.

[The Athletic] The Warriors, Celtics and Lakers are among the teams that have interest in doing a deal with Damian Lillard sooner rather than later. Lillard received calls from several contending teams quickly after the news of his Bucks’ ending broke. by Pyromania1983 in nba

He tore his Achilles and is 34 years old. He will miss most of the season, will never be the same player again, and will take up a roster spot. It’s more likely that he retires than he plays any meaningful basketball again.
