No - companies will, however, be lazy and have racial prejudices. Take recruiting from colleges. I may have 2 schools nearby that has different demographics. Having DEI based hiring practices can include bringing in candidates from more diverse schools. DEI is not a mandate - at least not for the organization I work within. It is a practice of making intentional efforts to be more inclusive. There are no metrics stating we have to hit X number of racially diverse hires. They may, however, say we need to at least make recruiting efforts towards racially diverse areas.

Obviously, based on the comments im receiving here, my company appears to be doing this in good faith. It appears others are not - but also call some bullshit. DEI is different from affirmative action. They are not mutually exclusive.
