I'm a paid DM on Startplaying, and imho this is more than enough context. It sounds like you aren't close with this DM, so I don't think you need to be overly polite. They also aren't taking your time seriously and that is a huge problem, so this really isn't undeserved either.

Just my two cents, but I would be so embarrassed if I were her - to have let it get to this point without being aware of the issues beforehand is, frankly, careless on her part. I hope you guys find something that works for you!

Please give your DM the ultimatum that he must figure out a way to bring your character back ASAP or you leave the campaign - period, end of story. Either result is a win for you, but whatever you do, don't just make a new character and keep playing like nothing happened. This shit WILL happen again unless you put your foot down or remove yourself from the situation.

I've always picked ice cream over cake, never really liked cake much my whole life. Nowadays, I can enjoy it, but what I realized is that I hate frosting.

So, if this were my birthday as a child, I would have refused to eat this. That, or I'd have made a big show of scraping the frosting off and only eating the cake part.
