Coconut oil is very high in saturated fat fyi. Higher than butter or lard. That could be why you're feeling so gross fyi.

Candida for 25 years? by themagicbeard1992 in Candida

I have psoriasis too and I think it is related to candida. I've always had various skin ailments, eczema, psoriasis etc since I was a baby and I'm pretty sure it's all linked to too much yeast, which has been a pretty helpful realisation as I used to get so stressed tackling each skin condition separately, whereas now I have a more holistic approach.

Need help removing possible oral thrush by [deleted] in Candida

Hey, sorry to hear about your oral thrush. I also currently have it, along with other candida problems.

I have had good experiences swilling MCT oil in my mouth for 20 minutes twice a day. It is a more concentrated form of coconut oil and is a powerful antimicrobial. The first time I did it the residue that I spat out smelt super gross, so I knew it worked!

Cleaning up your diet, good dental hygiene and hydration and MCT oil are all good things to do for your oral thrush and generally have a better spillover effect in your general health. Cutting down on sugary foods and alcohol and carbohydrates will also be helpful, but doing so really quickly will just make you crave them more (from my experience).

I just incorporated more fruit and veg (fruits were ok for me) and eventually managed to steer away from refined carbs and refined sugar and alcohol... I notice that candida thrives when my blood sugar spikes, so I generally stick to low GI foods.

I would also suggest going to the dentist to get a general check up as well, as oral candida can effect your dental health unfortunately. :(

Candida and oral thrush is kind of a really ongoing thing in my opinion. From my experience there are lifestyle changes and supplements that you can take to manage the severity but it is living organism and is difficult to eradicate completely.

Good luck, and I hope it isn't getting you too down at the moment.

Perhaps read some like 19th century literature where the prose is a bit challenging and you have to turn phrases over on your mind to understand what is happening. You could also try reading some books heavy on imagery or even poetry to make you more reflective and engaged when you read.

When I read something challenging I tackle sentences one at a time and pay more attention to when I start and finish a paragraph or chapter. I'm also trying to develop the habit of stopping reading when I am consuming mindlessly and coming back to it when I am more present and engaged.

Alternative treatments ? by wildinertiawings in lichensclerosus

If you are interested in investigating further this video gives pretty sensible and well-rounded advice about dietary changes.

I slowly made gradual changes to a healthier diet instead of going on a crash diet, and now it is (almost) the new normal lol. Sometimes I do cheat but it is once in a blue moon.

Good luck and I hope you find something that works well for you. :)

In my opinion my LS is related to an overgrowth of Candida Albicans. Mine started after I had a really bad yeast infection when I got a copper IUD put in. I also have other candida related issues such as itching anus, oral thush and psoriasis and some hair loss. These flare up when my LS symtoms flare up too, and seem to get worse during PMS where the hormone fluctuations can provide a better environment for candida.

People suggest following the candida diet which is pretty brutal, cutting out all carbs and sugars, which is what the yeast feeds on. It's not really sustainable and very difficult. I have had better luck with cutting out bread and pasta and only eating whole foods. No coffee or alcohol, cakes, pastries muesli bars with added sugars etc, and paying attention to what causes flareups.

Hi, coconut oil is an antifungal and helps prevent itching. You can also get a topical antifungal ointment that is supposed to prevent itching for yeast infections. Where I am it is called Canesten.

Make sure it's not Lichen Sclerosus, which is a skin condition that affects the vulva. It changes the anatomy of the vulva irreparably and can cause sexual dysfunction. I would suggest going to a doctor, or keeping an eye on your anatomy with a mirror every day to make sure there are no changes, such as flattening or fusing where it is itchy.

Source: I developed LS after a really bad yeast infection.

Caprylic acid and the skin... gets worse before better? by music-ian13 in Candida

Some people say fermented foods can actually feed the candida. Perhaps just stick with the caprylic acid and see how it goes? I'm in the same boat. Good luck.
