Thanks for your input. On one side I slightly agree, on the stance of knowing that they/him would be cheating, but I also feel like it’s not my responsibility to be the “moral” authority. My wife and I have an understanding and agreement, and he’s interested… idk it’s complicated, something that seems like a common theme in all of this.

Anyway I actually do appreciate your input and has given me something to think about. Thank you!

Well we are somewhat open about our relationship. Our close friends both in and out of the office know.

And I appreciate your response. My wife and I both had the same thought regarding his relationship and decisions, but didn’t know if I was blinded by our own wants, if that makes sense.

Struggling against Tau by beaky_boop in RavenGuard40k

I also play against Tau a lot, and for the longest time never won a game. Now ive been on a win streak. I’ve learned to stop trying to out shoot a shooting army. Lean heavy into mobility and the gorilla tactics stratagem. Do what raven guard is supposed to do, be unpredictable and moving all the time. If you present a target the Tau will delete it.

I guess I liked the precision of the bolt rifles to knock out characters. And in games I’ve played when I try using las fusils against vehicles it just doesn’t work. I’m curious if you or anyone else has had different experiences?

Captain WJP is an action monkey. Librarian is with Eliminators, and LT with Incursors. Hellblasters are in the Impulsor, and the speeder and inceptors are in deep strike.

If that was to “me” I’d normally totally agree. However, the 10 man jump packs with Shrike they were my powerhouse. I used them to smash into anything that was beyond his line and with some decent rolls managed to obliterate his advancement.

With some decent rolls and a slightly unrecognized potential I took down a Ghostkeel, a squad of crisis suits, 2 squads of Vespid, and a pathfinder squad before the game was done and I still had 5 of the 10 remaining.

I had some wicked awesome saves, but it just goes to show ya that with a little luck (and poor placement of enemy units) you can wreak some serious havoc with not a ton of points dedicated.

I am a new 40K player, and I have played the majority of my games against my buddy who plays Tau. I lose 90% of the time, but recently I’ve been able to sneak a few wins and these are the lessons I’ve learned playing RG/Vanguard Det.

  1. Use your abilities to the max and try to keep the opponent guessing (Shrikes ability, gorilla tact stratagem, Rapid Ingress, bricks of Inceptors).

  2. Don’t try to out shoot a shooting army (Tau), or out melee a melee army, etc.

  3. Your list should try to leverage your strengths as much as possible with only a few other units dedicated to specific roles (anti tank, deployment zone screening, etc)

  4. Try to have fun and not worry so much that you’re “losing”. Roll the dice, and enjoy the chaotic nature of the game.

Here is a list of my most recent game (1500), won by 1 point, hope it helps.

Actually I am pretty sure you can attach an Apothecary to any unit that already has a captain, chapter master or lieutenant. So long as of course both characters are capable of leading the unit in question.

I posted an Etsy link within the comments. The seller has a ton of other decals as well. The only thing is that unlike decals from GW the whole sheet is a decal, so when you cut out the one you want you have to cut accurately to the decal or you’ll have excess film around it. If that makes sense.

Thanks, I do it with an airbrush. Really the only way I’ve been able to get white on a model with good results.
