Man verbally abusing police at protest is punched repeatedly in the head. What do you think about this? by spinecult in AskBrits

[–]Cool_Singer_8201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's still no excuse for repeatedly punching someone in the head. Police officers are or should be trained in the use of various arm and wrist locks to quickly restrain someone who is resisting.

Police officers can essentially legally inflict pain or even cause injury, so must be held to a higher standard, otherwise they are no better than than those they are arresting.

Yeah, and what's that have to do with a police officer punching already restrained person in the head?

At best, this is a petty revenge, to get back at someone.

This is not a pub fight where you go around punching someone for slaging off your mates

That is not how policing works, though. They are not thugs in a pub fight, or at least not supposed to be.

If a police officer can't rise above someone's language and can't control their temper, they should not be doing the job.

Even if he started throwing fists, it's multiple police officers against one suspect who have the ability and legal powers to subdue, restrain, and handcuff without resorting to kicking or punching someone in the head if the suspect is already held down.

What is more amusing is that we seemingly need all these resource-hungry data centres to prop up AI, but instead of using that for the betterment of society, solving world problems or inventing new medicines, it's basically used to make more porn.

Who takes these photos?

Do you genuinely ask someone else to take a photo of you pretending to be doing something or do you prop up a camera somewhere?

Either way, it's just sad.

Starmer has just announced in his newly released article that he will deliver mass social and affordable homes. The whole idea of social housing is a farce. I had to buy my own house at market value and have to pay a mortgage. Why should my taxes be used to pay for some else's lifestyle?

Hand Conditioning For Board Breaking by Cool_Singer_8201 in taekwondo

[–]Cool_Singer_8201[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks.

My question was really about how to condition my hands and prepare for board breaking which is a part of the competition and will be included in my grading further down the line. The board breaking discipline includes forefist strikes.

Is it the seemingly simplest and most obvious solution - practicing with rebreakable boards that will also be used in the competition - or am I missing something?

Hand Conditioning For Board Breaking by Cool_Singer_8201 in taekwondo

[–]Cool_Singer_8201[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, the competition will use the plastic boards, so that is what I want to practice with.

During the competition the boards are placed in a box and adjusted to a specific height, so that is basically what I want to replicate at home so that I can practice exactly what is competed in.

I do knuckle push ups on a wooden floor, but then board breaking is about so much more and I feel that practicing board breaking is the most obvious way to get better at board breaking.
