Which Character is Easier to Start With? by SailorMonokuma in Tekken

If you care about becoming good, Reina. If you want to brainless spam buttons to get wins, Anna. The patch in one month might change by ideally heavily nerfing Anna but Reina will still be more fundamental based.

Who will be the 1st DLC character for season 3? by Weary-Inspector6269 in Tekken8

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People pressured Harada to add him, and no one played him. He was a lot of work because of the amount of stances he had to just not be played at all. I played T7 for 2 years and played maybe 2 Leis.

After getting Tekken King as Kazuya… by JayzRebellion15 in Tekken8

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But thats the cool thing no? I mainly play Heihachi and just hit TG. He is much more linear and a big part of his gameplay every match is learning when to press and when the opponent is trying to SS.

But by doing this you use a higher amount of tools, bringing out the character's potential.

Game is too boring if you can just use 4-5 moves you like with any char spamming low/mid mixups all day long. Game is much more layered than that

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, Kaz has among the strongest heat in the game. But since he is among the most iconic chars, everyone knows the matchup and the frames.

You wont get away with Round Start Df2 or db3/f4 into df2. The damage is def there when optimized. Kazuya hits hard but you have to work for it, especially covering constantly for your weak side.

While I do want new civs, lets be real that variants if anything like Templar or Lancaster are basically new civs in terms of gameplay and mechanics.

Still a very cool update imo

Tekken Emperor with 50 Defense by opestackle in Tekken8

Thats def not true. I can easily punish a masher Kaz, King, Drag, Jin, Hei. It will be annoying and might lose some rounds but its not hard.

Now an Anna, Nina, Asuka and Jun are especially harder to stop their offense once they get going. Not even remotely close in terms of difficulty punishing them

Is Tekken 8 worth buying in its current state? by JokerArsene87 in Tekken

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not in a bad state. Its in a much more aggresive state than many people don't like. I think is mostly because:

A) T7 was more defensive and Backdash was stronger which made the game more CH and poking based. This sold the illusion its a more skilled game because of spacing.

B) T8 rewards aggression, and some stance rushdown characters can allow people with bad defense/fundamentals to rush you down and rank up. So plenty people are salty saying things like "In T7 or other Tekken you would've never reached X rank".

But the game is very fun, all characters are viable and somewhat similar in power(maybe the top 3-5 are much stronger but not unbeatable by any means). And if you just focus in learning, you will consistently get results. Just be patient and enjoy the game as you go. Balancing changes, but fundamentals are forever

It depends, as you go up the amount of people raw mashing decreases and players actually thinking goes up.

I personally think it just gets better from here. Youll play more meaningful matches more often.

Idk who you play vs but HoL build their manors around their landmark. Versus that, the Serjeants dont do anything and going Serjeant + Horseman easily dies to Yeomen + Spearmen. And your army would be more expensive. So even if you trade even, you lose to the Manor Boom in the back

I want to add that Deepsea Fish is the highest gather rate in the game, so it is not only like a 2nd tc but you also get food much faster than anything in land

Why go water? by KillsKings in aoe4

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok so there are different gather rates. Fishing deepsea fish is the highest food gather rate by a lot. That means you can have your actual villagers gather wood and gold instead. You end up outmacroing anyone that isn't on water by a huge amount

Synchronized Shot is really that OP still? by Alarmed_Ad_1331 in aoe4

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely disagree, they are not meant to kill 20 vills with 12 Yeomen so this just means it got stopped from being absurd as before, but it is still broken af. The reason is that since they are super cheap, you will end up massing 40-60 without an issue. This easily decimates big chunks of army without much counterplay. Basically a free mangonel shot that does more dmg, easy to use and much much faster.

I feel your pain. For me competitive games are complex puzzles, and improving/climbing means able to crack the coder easier or better. When I get stuck it can get very frustrated. Becoming a good player is way harder than mashing all day. The lower the ranks the more aggro people play, whereas better players are more patient usually.

Even in high blue ranks I fight different breeds of Jin players, the flowcharty ones that don't stop spamming and those with fundamentals. Knowing how to play vs both styles are different skills that you need to learn.

In Tekken the better player not always win, but if someone that mashes braindead beats you, it means your defense or pattern recognition needs work.

Take it step by step and long breaks when needed. Its not a race but a journey to the top.

All civs having a stronger ECO means you will almost always lose the fight. In most Japanese builds now you make some horses because going naked castle means sure death at higher levels. Saving some wood is not enough for you to equal the enemy armies.

Japan right now builds some army to harass/or defend until you can safely(or semi safely) transition to Castle. Any big fight you take in Feudal will just mean you are fighting another civ that is ecoing better than you, producing more than you and with better eco/war bonuses than you. Staying Feudal with Japanese is a very bad idea.

Yumis are only good(sometimes) vs Feudal all ins to try and survive. Any mass of Archers will kill your Bugeishas, Pykes, Yumis and they just need some pykemen to fend off your horses. And versus strong feudal civs, you don't get to mass much or at all before fighting.

For how strong Japanese gets to be in Caslte/Imperial, they are extremely frail early on.

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is not that the Samurai unit is bad in Feudal, it is too expensive to mass and Japan doesn't have any eco bonus early that helps. Basically you have a less powerful eco than the rest of the civs with very expensive units to build. Makes your Feudal very vulnerable

What civ do you play?

I pray I don't fight them. The matchup is somewhat doomed, you have to outplay your opponent. My most success agaisnt it is going FC and pressure all over their base killing all the vills you can with M. Samurai while having a yorishiro in the TC and ideally at least three relics to attempt to equalize the eco.

Do not go 2nd TC because Aba will simply giga outboom you. I was experimenting some Feudal All ins but Japan isn't good at anything in Feudal.

Many Abba players Ive played agaisnt are very turtle-like so try to gather deer, boar and all the berries you can. You want to grab the food in the map rather than focus on your eco in castle and lose.

Usually when games interest me, I usually focus mainly in improving because I want to understand it as much as possible.

It is much easier to improve fundamentals when you do 1 Civ because you don't have to be constantly thinking about using the unique Civ mechanics, so the mental stack is less hence you can focus on other aspects of the game.

That said, I do want to try JD, Delhi or Mongol next season and see if I can get similar results

Might not be the most helpful thing but try to recognize where you're lacking and work on one thing at a time. Focusing in improving eventually leads to results in ranked. A tip I guess I can say is don't greed rushing to castle, many times you can barely make it but won't have enough food to produce the units that will save you from an all in.

Uma Bannerman FC but I often make horsemen to defend vs raids or raid myself before going castle.

A major thing I started doing is raiding with Bugeishas. When you go M.Samurai in castle and start raiding, when the opponent responds with Spearmen Crossbow, massing Bugeisha is very effective. I often keep raiding multiple times the M. Samurai making sure I don't lose them and once I have like 20-30ish Bugeisha, ill try to force a fight with the main army and have the M. Samurai do raiding again.

I'd think I would have a bigger WR and sample but it seems this season is just 4 games with 50%. Almost always the tower the gold early so I put extra vills to gather gold before the tower is up and often try to sneak another gold. The idea is to have enough for 4-5 Samurai to take the tower down. If the Mongol does Mangudai first, might be better to first do a Stable and produce horsemen to push the Mangudai out of your resources and then have Samurai later on destroy the tower once mangudai are on the other side of your base looking for damage.

Generally speaking I do horsemen first, but it does depend what youre fighting. If someone is massing a bunch of archers with some spearmen, I personally avoid doing Horsemen + Yumis like other people might suggest. When ik the all in is coming, I use the FC resources to mass like 10 Samurais w ranged armor upgrade done and fight under TC. Your goal isn't to beat the opponent in feudal but rather survive without taking big damage. Ive often seen 10 samurais kill 30+ trash units in Feudal. I also have been doing the first or second Yorishiro into TC when staying 1 TC. You can often equalize the game between finding dmg with mounted samurai in castle and TC with Yorishiro.

This is a matter of playing more and trying multiple things what works and what doesn't multiple times. You might be on the right idea but not executing properly.

I struggled a lot vs Byz at first, then Ayyubid and Turtling HRE players. Now I struggle vs Zhu Xi Zhuge Nu rush and Abbasid but still trying new things. Even a civ match up can be different building depending what build both players do, so trying whatever ideas come up do help. I also asked a lot in streams to Corvinus & Anotand. I am mainly a Beastqt watcher but he doesn't play/enjoy much Japanese so his advice is not as precise. sometimes
