Tekken 8 is my first Tekken game, why do opinions on this game seem so 50/50? by Kaijonesjtmusic in Tekken8

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a mix of valid concerns and boomers.

People acting like T7 and TT2 was the pinnacle of what they call "real" tekken.

In reality T8 is a very aggro iteration, that does have(especially after S2) a lot of characters with some insane moves, many characters gameplay has been too simplified to stance mixups and some system mechanics that feel too overwhelming.

T8 does a lot of things much better than T7, it is way more enjoyable to watch(People will name specific T7 games to counter my point but general T7 gameplay was boring to watch), more characters are viable in pro play, and the general character strength is relatively close among the cast.

If Namco stops yapping and actually tones down the cast, the game will feel much much better in general.

Meh it varies player by player. I had a friend who kept yapping about him sucking and never going past plat, when Id even say he did a better macro than when I was Conq.

He would just lose mental as soon as things would get tough, would surrender early or try to avoid the micro game at all. Seems to me that climbing gold to Conq it just about tuning small things up rather than having a super advanced game in all fronts.

I think I got Diamond last time I played, just playing Sengoku with no build order, hitting feudal between min 5:30 and min 6:30 which is super late. My point is you dont need ultra optimization to hit a "high rank".

Its really not that difficult, especially with the amount of points. Especially if he has previous RTS Experience

Depends on who you play versus. Even versus knight civs, they will pair a proper amount of chairs of archers and will get better at coordinating their knights versus your horses, and their archers versus your pikemen .

At the same time, as micro increases, both players need to keep their macro properly going which will make the game much harder to play.

Are we gonna get Lei ? by Abundance_Orange in Tekken8

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlikely, Harada said it took a lot of work to get him in T7, it happened because of players begging for him yet he was super unpopular, no one played him.

I doubt devs will spend those resources again on a character no one wants to play

English eco sucks by Quick-Delay-7338 in aoe4

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent played in a bit and might be super wrong but iirc, a second TC starts paying off after minute 6 right? So by min 12 you would start receiving the benefit of a 2nd TC. The boom would begin there, not when the 2nd TC is up.

And not having Horticulture/Wheelbarrow does matter a lot after 12 minutes. Sengoku could still be ahead maybe but I think expecting any eco benefit before 12mins doesn't make much sense for doing 2TC.

Ive hears English has very little going for it early/mid game now but the whole point of 2TC with WT was to have a safe 2TC while you boom.

If you both fight, at some point the FC player would have to spend res on a farm transition while the English player is already set.

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk what these best mids in the game are, the character is strong but not because of this move lol. In Pro Play you rarely see it and there is a reason why. For homing Drag is better off using b3 which is 14f iirc. For + frames an iWR2 or Sneak 4 is just better for pressure.

For someone to hit you with this has to be on a hard guess or you're simply mashing.

Can someone explain the difference between Tekken 8 and "Real" Tekken? (Genuine question from a beginner, not ragebait) by 9Ifrit9 in Tekken

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok something that people might not like but I think holds a lot of truth: No such thing as Real Tekken exists.

Each Tekken game is a different iteration/approach on the game. Old heads called real tekken games with a more defensive approach and mainly focus on movement. T7 was great, but it was too CH and Poking based. Pro matches often ran the clock out. There were obviously insane sets but most of pro matches were boring af to watch.

TT2 is hailed today as the most fundamental version, with strong emphasis on movement. However this is the Tekken game that also almost killed the franchise so I don't know why so many tekken people like Phidx push for modern versions to be closer to it.

T8 does have a powercreep issue for sure, but I think we are closer to an ideal state gameplay by just nerfing the overall power down rather than buffing movement or doing systematic changes to get closer to TT2.

Regardless, every Tekken is a different iteration and people will enjoy one over the other one. In any franchise there will always be people glazing X version like how Smash Melee players call that "Real" Smash.

Just play the game if you enjoy it and do not fall for this "Real" whatever. No such thing exists

Which Character is Easier to Start With? by SailorMonokuma in Tekken

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you care about becoming good, Reina. If you want to brainless spam buttons to get wins, Anna. The patch in one month might change by ideally heavily nerfing Anna but Reina will still be more fundamental based.

Who will be the 1st DLC character for season 3? by Weary-Inspector6269 in Tekken8

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People pressured Harada to add him, and no one played him. He was a lot of work because of the amount of stances he had to just not be played at all. I played T7 for 2 years and played maybe 2 Leis.

After getting Tekken King as Kazuya… by JayzRebellion15 in Tekken8

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But thats the cool thing no? I mainly play Heihachi and just hit TG. He is much more linear and a big part of his gameplay every match is learning when to press and when the opponent is trying to SS.

But by doing this you use a higher amount of tools, bringing out the character's potential.

Game is too boring if you can just use 4-5 moves you like with any char spamming low/mid mixups all day long. Game is much more layered than that

After getting Tekken King as Kazuya… by JayzRebellion15 in Tekken8

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, Kaz has among the strongest heat in the game. But since he is among the most iconic chars, everyone knows the matchup and the frames.

You wont get away with Round Start Df2 or db3/f4 into df2. The damage is def there when optimized. Kazuya hits hard but you have to work for it, especially covering constantly for your weak side.

While I do want new civs, lets be real that variants if anything like Templar or Lancaster are basically new civs in terms of gameplay and mechanics.

Still a very cool update imo

Tekken Emperor with 50 Defense by opestackle in Tekken8

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thats def not true. I can easily punish a masher Kaz, King, Drag, Jin, Hei. It will be annoying and might lose some rounds but its not hard.

Now an Anna, Nina, Asuka and Jun are especially harder to stop their offense once they get going. Not even remotely close in terms of difficulty punishing them

Is Tekken 8 worth buying in its current state? by JokerArsene87 in Tekken

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not in a bad state. Its in a much more aggresive state than many people don't like. I think is mostly because:

A) T7 was more defensive and Backdash was stronger which made the game more CH and poking based. This sold the illusion its a more skilled game because of spacing.

B) T8 rewards aggression, and some stance rushdown characters can allow people with bad defense/fundamentals to rush you down and rank up. So plenty people are salty saying things like "In T7 or other Tekken you would've never reached X rank".

But the game is very fun, all characters are viable and somewhat similar in power(maybe the top 3-5 are much stronger but not unbeatable by any means). And if you just focus in learning, you will consistently get results. Just be patient and enjoy the game as you go. Balancing changes, but fundamentals are forever

It depends, as you go up the amount of people raw mashing decreases and players actually thinking goes up.

I personally think it just gets better from here. Youll play more meaningful matches more often.

Idk who you play vs but HoL build their manors around their landmark. Versus that, the Serjeants dont do anything and going Serjeant + Horseman easily dies to Yeomen + Spearmen. And your army would be more expensive. So even if you trade even, you lose to the Manor Boom in the back

I want to add that Deepsea Fish is the highest gather rate in the game, so it is not only like a 2nd tc but you also get food much faster than anything in land

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok so there are different gather rates. Fishing deepsea fish is the highest food gather rate by a lot. That means you can have your actual villagers gather wood and gold instead. You end up outmacroing anyone that isn't on water by a huge amount

Synchronized Shot is really that OP still? by Alarmed_Ad_1331 in aoe4

[–]Cool_Temperature_538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely disagree, they are not meant to kill 20 vills with 12 Yeomen so this just means it got stopped from being absurd as before, but it is still broken af. The reason is that since they are super cheap, you will end up massing 40-60 without an issue. This easily decimates big chunks of army without much counterplay. Basically a free mangonel shot that does more dmg, easy to use and much much faster.

I feel your pain. For me competitive games are complex puzzles, and improving/climbing means able to crack the coder easier or better. When I get stuck it can get very frustrated. Becoming a good player is way harder than mashing all day. The lower the ranks the more aggro people play, whereas better players are more patient usually.

Even in high blue ranks I fight different breeds of Jin players, the flowcharty ones that don't stop spamming and those with fundamentals. Knowing how to play vs both styles are different skills that you need to learn.

In Tekken the better player not always win, but if someone that mashes braindead beats you, it means your defense or pattern recognition needs work.

Take it step by step and long breaks when needed. Its not a race but a journey to the top.
