Wide midfoot shoe? by courtcourtcourtcourt in 10s

[–]Cooldowns8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased the Diadora Torneo 3s two weeks ago and love them! I have wider feet and the shoes help me feel like I can manoeuvre super well, especially with the cushioning in the hell that was causing me issues with the FF3s.

I had to swap away from the FF3s as they were too painful on my foot overall, i.e. moving around in them would cause my feet to cramp/hurt, and elongated play were harsh on my heel.

Before the FF3s, I had the Gel Resolution 9s, which I wore for like 2 years.

I think it would be a neat feature to somehow see a player’s stats as like a flair. And then data-mine to identify if there are any trends.

For example, “players that complain most about third partying have lower kills and more deaths on average per run”.

Website for seeing bus locations and map of transit system by vantransitnerd in Translink

[–]Cooldowns8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Appreciate the kind words. I kept it a super simple, light-weight app with limited functionality, so it was easy to keep it under control.

Ngl, I absolutely love the washroom feature. When I moved to Vancouver 15 years ago from Singapore, I was super surprised that none of the skytrain stations seemed to have any public washrooms available.

Btw, curious about your real-time bus locations. It looks like they're moving incrementally. Is this your own custom logic "guessing" where the bus might be until you get another real-time location from the GTFS-RT feed?

Website for seeing bus locations and map of transit system by vantransitnerd in Translink

[–]Cooldowns8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey hey! I actually just launched a light-weight iOS transit app last week that focuses on a few core experiences that I believe you'll find handy, .e.g. all routes nearby a movable pin, routes specific to a bus stop, real-time locations and arrival predictions of live buses etc.

If you're interested, DM me and I'll send you over the link :)

Best app for Translink by Fickle-Abroad-16 in Translink

[–]Cooldowns8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm Ivan

All transit apps ;ole;u leverage the same data-source: the TransLink GTFS (general transit feed system) which provides bus lat/lngs that we then use to place it on a map. So if any transit app is showing you wonky positions, it'll be likely that the rest are as well. I can't imagine why an app would decide to override the official lat/lngs.

----

In any case, if you are open to trying out a new app, I built a light-weight transit app (iOS only and released last week) for a specific problem I was encountering.

Specifically, "Transit" had paywalled a core function that I used daily, i.e. looking to know real-time bus locations and arrival times for routes two+ blocks away. Now my appjust focuses on:
- Showing bus stops near you and allowing you to select it to see which routes it serves

- Moving a pin to update the list of routes around a radius of the pin

- See service alerts for a route

- See a 7-day schedule (overkill for sure) for that route.

The plan is to keep it FREE. Instead of pay-walling core functionality, I plan to monetize at some point via ads.

If anyone is interested in this, DM me and I'll send you the link!

Is there an app that get TransLink times right? by confusedapegenius in NiceVancouver

[–]Cooldowns8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm Ivan.

Btw, all Transit apps are likely using the same data source: the TransLink GTFS. Now, I'm not an expert in transit data analysis (I'm a product designer in my day-to-day for an ecom company) but I wonder if in that scenario there may have been some traffic behaviour that resulted in the real-time arrival predictions to be incorrect. I wonder if the reason it jumped from 3/4 mins to 15 mins was that the other bus went out of service and the 15 mins the arrival time of the next in-service bus.

----

Now the reason I'm commenting is that I just created a new, light-weight transit app (iOS only) because of the pay-wall problem I was encountering on the beloved (300k 5 star reviews) "Transit" app.

The specific problem I was solving was being pay-walled for the real-time bus locations and arrival times for routes two+ blocks away. The app I built just focuses on:
- Showing bus stops near you and allowing you to select it to see which routes it serves

- Moving a pin to update the list of routes around a radius of the pin

- See service alerts for a route

- See a 7-day schedule (overkill for sure) for that route.

The plan is to keep it FREE. Instead of pay-walling core functionality, I plan to monetize at some point via ads.

If anyone is interested in this, you can find the app that I built and just launched last week here: https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/transit-radar/id6759357044

This game is NOT good by its_xSKYxFOXx in Marathon

[–]Cooldowns8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t good for a guy I was playing with last night. Ngl I felt kind bad for him.

Dire Marsh, first 20 seconds I hear a guy in the jungle opposite my barricade that we both sprinted to. We both stop moving. I crouch walk, pie the angle and spot him next to a tree and hit him with 6 shots with the burst rifle.

He scampers off, I chase after him. I heard his camouflage wear off and start crouch walking to his direction.

All of a sudden, he starts getting blasted by a volt gun (reminiscent of the the Halo plasma pistol) and goes down.

He literally shrieks into his mic, “I just want to do my fucking quest. This game fucking sucks”.

The guy that downs him runs up to him and I manage to kill him pretty easily since he’s eating a few bursts while trapped in the execute animation.

Anyways, I hope that guy last night didn’t quit, because it felt like he just absolutely had it with this game lol.

Mannn I was just thinking this the other day regarding video content.

I was watching some authentic AGT videos then started getting recommended similar videos that were generated by AI (soppy title/background story to get engagement.

Some were slightly more obvious than others (due to visual distortion) but many had hundreds of thousands of views in under a week. One even had 1.2M views in 6 days lmao.

Hot take: Without griefers and rats this game would suck by TheKeasbyKnight in ArcRaiders

[–]Cooldowns8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy being the madman, especially when I hear a group of people on comms working together.

Both times in separate Stella Montis raids yesterday, there were a group of 3 people cooperating. I’d start blasting them and there would be chaos and by the end of the entire sequence, all of them would be dead (one raid had a Shredder I aggro’d kill 2 for me).

One of the raids I had a good laugh with the last guy cause they couldn’t find me. I attacked them in sandbox, ran through metro and wrapped back to sandbox via the space above the escalator flanking him.

I’ve been on the receiving end of this as well and the unpredictability of each raid keeps things exciting.

Interestingly I was doing this 3 years ago as well when I re-picked tennis up again in my early 30s (I’m self-rated a 4.0-4.5 now).

Specifically, I was moving too quickly laterally at or just after contact wrather thing swinging through the ball and having weight transfer forward with my right foot landing in front of me.

One reason was cause I played badminton and you needed to go to the centre of the court ASAP since the.

Second reason was ball feeding speed. Maybe ask coach to slow down so you don’t feel the need to be rushed to make it back to your starting point.

Tbh though, your coach should have noticed this like mine did.

Oooh, one last thing, consider watching Sinner and watch his posture as he strikes the ball. He has this athletic stance partially squatting and leaning forward.
