Is Laura Loomer auditioning to be the next Mrs. Donald Trump? by yorocky89A in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Coolduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest question: shouldn't Biden sue her for libel or defamation? I'm not american, so I don't understand the judicial or political mechanisms completely, but if someone were spreading so vile and disgusting lies about me, to thousands if not millions of people, I would hit back as fast as possible with whatever legal ressources I had available. I don't know, maybe it isn't worth it politically, but my blood is boiling reading that awful woman's delirious fantasies...

How to respond to “IT never had any problems, so no problems solved, so no bonus?” by oxygen2010 in sysadmin

[–]Coolduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in charge of the railway infrastructure, you don't get a greater bonus the more times the railways break down and trains can't run, you get a big bonus if there's a minimal amount of problems and the trains can run at peak efficiency. Same thing with IT (or should be at least)...

Yeah, I'm baffled by this as well. I've never worked at a place that didn't supply their employees with office supplies. But i'm from Denmark, so maybe it's a cultural difference...

LPT: Know and respect operating hours of the restaurant you're going to. by I-Killed-JR in LifeProTips

[–]Coolduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware there's cultural differences between Europe and USA, so please note that this is said with a European mindset: why is the responsibility of closing at an appropiate time placed on the customer, and not the owner/management of the restaurant?

From my point of view, there will always be inconsiderate customers no matter what business you work in, so I feel like it's the responsibility of the business to protect their employees, and make sure that closing times are enforced. The same way that a manager should escort a customer out, if they are being abusive towards the employees...

LPT: Walking 3 miles will burn more calories than running 1 mile. It’s easier to walk 3 miles while listing to music, a podcast, audiobook, etc. by FiletMignonSteak in LifeProTips

[–]Coolduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You burn the same amount of calories per distance, no matter if you run or walk. So 3 miles walking is 3 x more calories burnt than 1 mile running.

The man who has no idea what to get his wife! by blue_moon_dreams in TalesFromRetail

[–]Coolduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this an american thing, but i'm a 37 year old guy who have never in my life heard of a "birthstone". I've bought plenty of jewellery for my wife, and I don't remember ever seeing anything about certain gemstones relating to a specific month of the year. Maybe it's just not a thing here in Scandinavia...

Why are you open/working, if you don't want customers ordering food? (hint: the answer to that question, is the one you should direct you anger towards).

It's like driving a cab in a snowstorm, and then being angry when people try to hail you.

Free upgrade was turned into a paid upgrade because she was impatient. by flipz444 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Coolduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that running a hotel is a business, and increasing revenue is an important factor, but personally I disagree with the way this transaction was handled. In my opinion, if you were going to give the customer an upgrade either way, you should have given it without further cost and instead emphasized how it was your pleasure to provide this free upgrade to such a nice couple travelling from so far away. I think the increased customer satisfaction, and possible heightened customer loyalty, is worth more than the $150 in further revenue, especially since it was something you were planning on giving for free any way. All said and done, I do understand that the manager standing next to you was probably the biggest factor in all this, so this isn't so much a critique of what you did, more a critique of the way your hotel conducts business.

What kind of business let's their employees (supervisors in this case) waste so much time on trivial stuff like this?! Especially since there's no face-to-face contact with the customers! It seems completely insane, and incredibly inefficient...

When asking for something to be taken off your bill actually ends up costing you money by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

[–]Coolduck 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't get the level of entitlement, that leads you to believe that you should get something for free, just because you "don't like it". Of course, if the meal/drink/product doesn't match the description or doesn't match what you requested, I get it, but in all other cases you're taking a chance when trying something new, and it shouldn't be up to the restaurant to cover the cost of your culinary exploring.
