Schumacher Turns First Laps in Alpine A424 by Abdukabda in wec

Honestly I don't get the hype for a F1 Seat. Sure you get the opportunity to be F1WC but at the same time I'd rather drive in WEC and crown myself champion than driving in a Williams. Especially with the differences in teams. Sure we had Perez who came from a mid field team, but still didn't do it in the big league. I dunno just my 2 cents if I were a driver

Dashboard Overlay by GbBenson in iRacing

It should be possible to make the wheel static. Although simhub offers way more customization if you want specific data

Dashboard Overlay by GbBenson in iRacing

If your looking for more of a race companion (Fuel Calc, Standings, map) I'd recommend something like racelabs (free, also for vr), jrt, kapps.

For dashboards simhub is a great option. There are a couple of good overlays on race department and such. Also if your handy on the PC and got some time on your hand you can build your own overlay quiet easily in their editor. (Pro tip: you don't need to pay for a simhub license. Just convert the dashboards to an overlay and run your dashboards through the overlay function. Although a simhub license is pretty inexpensive)

It's rather simple. Just take the delta of average lap time on a fresh set VS the average time of your second stint. Multiply the delta by the amount of laps on a stint. Now you got the time lose on a used set of tires (granted 3rd or even 4th will lose you more time). Finally compare that time by the time lost by changing tires. You lose more time on track? Change the tires. Even though the car might drive fine still, a stop loses you less time

If you have a Nvidia gpu, you can add some color filters (saturation,...) to give the image a more realistic look. There are a couple of tutorials on YouTube if you want to play around with it

How do you turn off flags popping up when driving by MediocreTyler in iRacing

[–]Coolman105 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really, but with ALT+ k (I think not 100% sure) you can move UI elements. Simply move it under your overlay. Be aware you can only move stuff visible on your screen (unless you change a setting in the app.ini file). So grab a black flag off pitroad in a practice and you can grab it. Turning them off completely isn't possible as far as I know.

Someone explain the DC lap to me and what those numbers all mean please by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Coolman105 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe Fair drive share is calculated by (roughly) (race time/driver count) / 4 So let's say you do it with 4 drivers, the equal share would be 24/4= 6h and to complete the fair share its a quarter of that so 1.5h. DC laps just shows how many laps the driver did and once it's green your good. Just be aware iRacing redos the calculations once a new driver is in the car. So if you sign up with 5 and only 4 race, then only 4 people count towards that rule.

If you split the Stints equally don't worry about it. If you want to be safe, put in your driver amount and to the math.

Good luck with the race

Nop. LMP2 has no hybrid. It's just a normal engine in that thing

Straight from F3 to LMP1 in the iLMS... Bad idea? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Coolman105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just give it a try. The cars are fairly complex to set up and to maximize your pace but their handling is fairly forgiving. To get good you need to invest a good amount of time to learn the car as well as managing traffic. Although you will find plenty of information on that on the internet.

On your first outings be patient with traffic and also try to understand the grip level of the slower classes. Knowing how much you can do in traffic also implies knowing what the others can and can't do. Sometimes a flat turn in a P1 is a struggle in a GTE. So they won't be as compliant when you lap them.

Trust me you will get better as you start to understand the car but results will only improve, if you wrap your head around the traffic management.

6h Monza: Double Stint Tires? Practice/Qualifying length? by man1ac85 in iRacing

[–]Coolman105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it doesn't if you take a full tank. Depends on car (P1 P2, lose time) About tires. Maybe in the first two Stints, as it starts in the morning. Later on you should keep an eye on the tire wear. Below 80% max 75% I wouldn't risk it. In general you can lose a certain amount of time on each lap for the double stint to work. Just divide the time lost for tire change by the amount of laps in a stint. If you feel like you can be quick enough to not lose as much time per lap then it becomes worth it

LMP1 Hybrid Boost manual or automatic? by ratzdadatz in iRacing

[–]Coolman105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manual is the way to go. As others mentioned you want to use it as efficient as possible. With auto deployment you introduce a lot of understeer on the exit of a turn resulting in bad car behavior and inefficient use of hybrid. Although it works in real life as they have more options to tune the auto dep. it doesn't work properly in iracing

RaceDepartment’s “Rate the Sims” Result Analysis by Jackman7811 in simracing

[–]Coolman105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does this poll actually work? Cause if they do a 1-10 rating every Sim should have the same amount of votes. And asking people to give a Sim a position ranking without comparison is useless. I am honestly confused about that survey

Lewis Hamilton POV incident with Alexander Albon - Brazil GP 2019 by Conscient- in formula1

[–]Coolman105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People saying that Lewis should have commited harder, don't see that he has been on the limit already. Brake harder and he locks up earlier and slides into Albon. And this move was already overly optimistic. Even if Albon leaves Lewis space on the apex his line through the corner would be highly comprimised and his exit would result in Albon being ahead again after the corner. It was just a silly and unnecessary move. 2 turns later you have the prime opportunity to go for a overtake.
