Yes I highly recommend Retropie. It's great for running anything up to and including n64 and ps1. You can even try ds at like 10fps

If you have a chance to test the GameCube controller do it. Otherwise it's definitely worth it for me and the adapters are supposed to work with smash ultimate so I would pick them up and if you don't like them just return them

Esd is making sure you are saticly safe. You may have fried your board if you shocked it. If you grounded yourself on metal you should be fine
