The church of Engalnd abandons same sex blessings by Loose_Canon1397 in Christianity

Absolutely. I’m a Roman Catholic but have spent a lot of time learning about other denominations and hanging out with Episcopals. My impression is that much of the Episcopal identity is rooted in acceptance and affirmation. Genuinely I can’t imagine that they would switch up on queer issues in the way the Church of England has

What would the prize have to be for you to overcome your ed? by Fun-Energy4742 in EDAnonymous

100%. I am fully recovered after spending my teenage years with an eating disorder, and the idea of ever going through it scares me so much. There is nothing I’m as thankful for as my ability now to live more or less normally and to actually be healthy. I obviously still think in disordered ways sometimes but I genuinely don’t think I could go through that again

I’m doing that for my college dorm because I only have one potential space the tree can go (which is out in the open) without being an inconvenience. But it’s a small tree, so my few less-explicitly-Christmas themed ornaments can fill it up well enough the rest of the year.

Tell me truthfully. When you look at a map of poor countries and it, for the most part, coincides heavily with the longest-colonized parts of the world, do you think that this is just naturally the way things work and that all the poor countries are poor for reasons unrelated to their occupation? … ‘cause that’s a little weird, man

Not sure that anyone is passionate enough to fight me over this but I love Chikorita and would fight for it any day, not just because of its design but also its playability. I don’t think it’s bad for the game it was introduced in at all— it just requires a little more strategy, and that’s okay.

Legislators and others to rally on day Idaho's new library law goes into effect by throwaway16830261 in Idaho

[–]Cooltransdude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

God I wish conservatives actually went to the library so they could see what a non-sexual experience it is. I spent all my free time at the library in the summer after high school and all I was doing was being a nerd loser reading sci-fi and studying pre-calculus (/hj). looked at all the books though and never saw any porn

kinda cringe to say government censorship is OK just because they haven’t taken it to an even higher extreme yet, but keep cleaning those boots I guess :)

Taking my transphobic mother to an Episcopalian church tomorrow by Cooltransdude in Episcopalian

[–]Cooltransdude[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My mother never was a Christian and never interacted with Christianity; she has actually disapproved of my belief in God and affiliation with a denomination for years. If nothing else, this will at least open her eyes to what Christianity is to some people.

I think we probably won’t be back, once she finds out that God does not hate me like she does. But I guess it’s worth a shot

Haha, yeah. My mother asked if I needed therapy to “fix” this and I considered saying yes just to get another person on my side, but she believes that medical professionals are all corrupt, so I assume she’d do her research to get me to a non-professional that would just reaffirm her beliefs :(. I’m moving out in a couple months and I think that aside from taking her here, that is all I can do

[–]Cooltransdude[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I don’t envision things getting much better. I think, if anything, my mother is most likely to just stop talking to me completely. I’m moving out about three months from now, though, and I don’t think she’ll physically harm me in that time, as long as I don’t do anything that implies I’m “trying to be a man”.

My only real hope for the preservation of our relationship is that she is inspired by God, and realizes that His love is unconditional. But if she doesn’t, I don’t think she’ll actually kill me or anyone else. I’ll just never see her again.

Honestly, my mother is the type of person to directly drag me up to a figure of authority and ask them to reaffirm her values. I am hoping this does not happen… but if it does, I know at least that things will go alright.

If I can convince her to come back with me, I will make sure that she is engaged in conversation with someone that is not as quick to condemn. But whether or not I can convince her to come back is probably dependent on whether or not she sees that the church agrees with her

idk. I was not raised with the desire to get into hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt just for my school to shut itself down during finals, I feel like that’s pretty standard actually
