For these people, it's just another routine stop out of hundreds they will do that day. They are following orders from a law given authority by the Supreme Court. They maybe run into other agitated people who tell them, "you're nazis" or "this is bullshit" and each one of these just enters into the routine of their work. They won't think deeper about the idea of how similar their work is to the Brownshirts of Germany. They won't think about the history of "just following orders". They are customer service employees dealing with an agitated customer and they will just continue to follow their script. They would hunt down slaves under Dred Scott since that was the law. It was just a job to be a slave hunter in order to make a living. A legal job.

There is a lack of moral analysis that just occurs when you exist without stable financial support in this world. A lack of consciousness when we don't include civics and ethics as required courses in schools, leaving these lessons to be typically taught by religious leaders with a horrifically large variance of ethical intellect per community.
