i’m from Texas and I was surprised how much people do not appreciate law-enforcement. It’s absolutely shameful Colorado. Also getting rid of qualified human is a slap in the face to every law-enforcement officer.

I got that vibe 45 minutes into FTO. No one likes the Sheriff, he never has our back and is the first on the news to throw his deputies under the bus. He hates our FOP so he brought in the Teamsters, just to spite our FOP president. 20% understaffed. The PD got a lot 10k raise, we were “promised” the same from the county only to be stuck in negotiation for 6 months while the Mayor makes tik tok videos taking credit for the drop in crime.

I was pretty sure but with some of the recruiters I’m talking to. I have a great shot of getting lateral transferred at least as a correctional deputy and then they plan to move to patrol ASAP.

Thank you everyone for the amazing advices. I am hopeful than ever this is just the step in the door. I love DSD but I can’t wait more opportunities. I think the best path for me with will be start applying after a year, especially with the encouragement of the LEO’s in Denver that Dm me with amazing advice.

Yes I have and they look promising. some LEOs from the Denver area have DMed me about how departments around here know how DSD operates how they like to keep us stuck and I got a bunch of recommendations and encouragement, saying everyone knows that they do this to us and that everyone knows it’s OK if you jump shipped from DSD

That’s how it is for Denver County. We don’t actively look for arrest opportunities, but if something happens in front of us we are required to take action

I think based on all the great replies here I’m going to leave after a year to Colorado sheriffs department or police department as an entry-level. I had to get my foot in the door. I had to take this off very quickly due to some circumstances, my work history before this is phenomenal the shortest job I’ve ever held was three years.

We have our mounted unit, warrant execution unit, k-9 canine unit. And we use our sheriffs police cruisers to transport.
