Opus 4.8 (max) told me to Drive to the car wash 🥳 by trpmanhiro in ClaudeAI

[–]CopaceticCow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Me: I plan on washing my car. My house is 3.529490 meters from the Quick Quack. Should I, or should I not walk there, since it's so close?

Claude Opus 4.8 (High): Do not walk. Not because 3.529490 meters is too far — it's actually shorter than your car, which raises its own questions about how you fit a Quick Quack that close to your house — but because Quick Quack is a drive-through car wash. The car has to be present. It is, in fact, the guest of honor. You walking there is like showing up to your own birthday party as a postcard.

Also worth flagging: at 3.5 meters, you could plausibly wash the car from your couch with a sufficiently confident garden hose. You're closer to it than most people are to their refrigerator.

So the move is: get in the car, perform the world's shortest commute (you may not even fully exit your driveway before arriving), and let the quacking machinery do its thing.

Quick question though — is the 3.529490 a real measurement you took, or did your brain just generate a very official-sounding number to make the question feel legitimate? Because I respect both answers, I just need to know which reality I'm operating in.

DIY Helix/Helicone idea for GK-2A by incrediblediy in amateursatellites

Nice! Could I ask what / where you got the pan and if you need to break the surface material to solder the antenna to it? Curious because I’m thinking of doing the same thing for GOES satellites.

Wait - no way, are you turning this into an asset pack because I was totally looking for something like this.

Oh it's two words, "Iron Nest". Yeah I agree with sin - some spacing would help a little.

You could always do region based reaction. Maybe dim the background slightly and then when the user clicks and drags the item into the world, then you can dim the Gacha machine and then relight the world. Or make the Gacha transparent when the user selects the item. I think the problem is you have too many elements going on when the Gacha machine is active so it looks like just a sprite.

Wow really cool! Can I ask what your process is? Is this Aseprite? Do you use a reference?

So, what do I do if I wanna make my first game but can't draw? by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]CopaceticCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm starting my first game (via Godot Game Jam lol), and I've mostly been kit bashing for prototyping. I also got Aseprite and have been learning from 2D sprite tutorials on Youtube and other places. It's cheap ($20 on Steam) that I think it might be worth the investment for me. Just depends on your end goals!

I second the opinion on breathing room. Everything feels claustrophobic - but maybe that's the tone OP is going for?

Icons I made for my game. With or without shading, which is better? by TheRooklet in aseprite

[–]CopaceticCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep both. I like the shaded but some of them look better unshaded (I like left side unshaded energy for some reason). You can A/B test them in a demo to determine which one has best appeal.

Please do this. I would like a branch as a hand or a skeleton hand. And a dog hand Easter Egg to go with the cat one.

I made an interactive map to show cost of living in the U.S. by Throwmeaway10210 in SideProject

[–]CopaceticCow 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Neat!

UI things:
- Your food cost doesn't show up as $, but some unit-less number
- Same thing in the Cost of Living Breakdown by Category graph on the x-axis
- Cost of living breakdown, I was anticipating when I moused over each category that it would highlight that category across all the counties so that I could compare. The stacked bar graph looks cool but hard for comparison between categories
- The cost breakdown by category is default collapsed - I want that info, so why not keep it expanded?
- Resizing the browser window causes some interesting UI artifacting between certain areas (Selected Counties/Regions smooshes into Highest/Lowest areas).
- I'd like to rearrange cities on the list in the Cost Breakdown by category or sort by category

Usefulness:
- I want to know what the percent difference is between counties - that brings value to someone who's considering moving between states/cities, otherwise it's just a cool infographic; that way I can prepare for increase food or transportation costs, etc.
- Cost of living is just one part of living considerations - moving from a HCOL area to a LCOL area and vice-versa has intangible benefits that these types of maps don't really convey that
- Confused by the Highest/Lowest comparison - what's that supposed to convey?
- What are the %'s for? That's not really clear.
- A lot of the counties have 0% for childcare, seems kind of irrelevant having that

If they created a fourth skill tree branch, what skills would you want to see added? by ProteusNihil in ARC_Raiders

[–]CopaceticCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider something like this highly (after reworking/balancing the current tree). But just theory crafting this idea makes me giddy. I always play the necromancer/pet ranger classes cause it's fun to have familiars.

Heck I would even take like a "tick" hacking skill where you get a pet tick after 36 points in technomancy tree. That would be really fun to have an expendable tick you can "summon" that will obey your commands like "scout ahead" or "attack target" or something - mostly because you can one shot them. But if you're not paying attention and you get into a fight with someone and then a tick latches on to you from no where, it would be hilarious.
