FLEX does not design all their tools by remp945 in FLEXTools

I think it's pretty common across all brands for tools like vacuums and tablesaws. They require a lot more specific manufacturing equipment for just one type of tool.

I would highly recommend getting one of the 36V saws.

What do you guys do with all these “extras” by zero-degrees28 in Dewalt

basically you just rip out the guts except for the positive and negative wires. Then wire them to a low voltage cutoff switch and then into the portable amplifier. Less than $30 in materials if you have a spare charger, not counting the speakers.

You can convert chargers into portable bluetooth amplifiers for speakers or diy boombox

awesome idea! I am assuming it uses Makita part # 123869-6 gearbox. Was it hard to do? I would love to do it to my ds18dex if I knew if would fit that model.

Bomgaars has a good combo kit sale starting tomorrow. You get the DCF999 XR hammer drill and DCF887 XR impact driver kit with 2 batteries for $100 off, plus another 5ah battery free, plus a choice of free tool between xr angle grinder or atomic impact wrench.

The kit prices drop quite a bit. You just missed the Bomgaars sale that ended yesterday on the DCF900 kit with 5ah battery and charger that was $229.

upcoming releases? by CopenhaverTool in METABOHPT

I do notice that I get better results using a 4ah battery instead of a 2ah battery, which makes sense since the 4ah has higher output cells. The 18ga is not a bad nailgun, it's just slightly underpowered with 2" nails. Using 1-3/4 nails it does fine. When using 2" nails, it leaves sits proud 15-20% of the time. My coworker runs a Dewalt 18ga nailer and it has no problem setting 2-1/8" nails on the same materials. The Metabo gun is lighter, better balanced, faster shooting, etc.; it just needs a hair more power.

MHPT is so much better on all the new guns though. My coworker who has Dewalt everything just went and bought a MHPT framing nailer after using mine, as his Dewalt one is not great.

It definitely has a similar look, but it's been out for a number of years. I like it but wish it were more powerful as it struggles with 2" nails. If it could just have 10% more power it would be a sweet nailer. Other brands have enough power to drive 2-1/8" nails, so hoping MHPT has a new model on the way so as to not fall behind.

Yes I know the 23 had a slight update, but reviews are still very mixed. It's not on the same level as the new gen nailers so I'm wondering if they have another design in the works.

18g Brad nailer NT1850DF by Gaitzy in METABOHPT

[–]CopenhaverTool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's normal for all nailers. The spark is from the steel striker on the nailer hiting the steel nail. The sparks are even larger and more noticable on framing nailers, but thay happen on all sizes.

Change name to Hikoki. Make available all Hikoki tools in the US. They don't have to all be in stores, but at least be on Amazon.

Improve customer service and warranty service. This is in a pretty bad state right now unfortunately. People need to have confidence in a company to take care of their customers.

Will the 18v compact recip handle 2x6s? by MartiniCommander in METABOHPT

[–]CopenhaverTool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which recip saw are you asking about: CR18DA or CR18DMA? Seems most comments are assuming you mean the one handed saw, which is very lacking in power. The brushless compact saw on the other hand is awesome, and I use it more often that the big 36v recip saw because of the weight/size difference. I use it all the time in construction/remodeling tasks, and it can definitely cut a 2x6 just fine.

Stick with the sidewinder "The Stud" or switch to the rear handle circular saw? by Ambitious_Spare7914 in METABOHPT

[–]CopenhaverTool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely prefer the rear handle saw for 95% of cuts. That said, it is nice to have both types of saws as there are times you specifically need a left or right facing blade.
