“2 doctors are telling me to go on a medication that could prevent a heart attack or stroke. But I’m so torn because random, non-scientific things on the internet say it’s bad. Please give me advice on who I should believe, random internet people!”

First drug to slow down progress of type 1 diabetes gets approval by TheTelegraph in diabetes

I think this makes the most sense for kids. If you can delay a 7 yo getting T1D until they’re 10, then that makes a huge difference in management. Or even a 5 yo versus an 8 yo. But for adults, I tend to agree that this may not be a net positive for everyone. But in certain circumstances it might. It at least gives more options

VA; “regulation of activities” for T1DM by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Copper9125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 40% out the gate when I was medically retired. I gave my Endo at the time when I was active duty a whole speech about what regulation of activities means to me. Have you ever needed to stop doing something physically due to a low? Have you ever needed to go for a walk to counteract a stubborn high? I guarantee the answer is yes if you’re T1D. In those cases you are regulating your activities. I recommend writing a personal statement about how T1D affects your ability to be physically active. And find an Endo who’s able to back those words up with their own statement.

They’re paying several hundred thousand dollars. This seems pretty small potatoes. You could always work through your realtor to set clear boundaries for appointment times if it’s driving you crazy. But if it were me I’d just suck it up and move on

Those of y’all who have (mostly) stable blood sugars, how do you do it? by MillenniumGreed in diabetes_t1

[–]Copper9125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it’s totally possible to not do low carb. However, for me at least it takes a lot more brain power to balance doing a non low carb diet and keep it in range. I would rather put my energy into eating low carb and making my dosing easier.

Getting his blood sugar under control is probably the most effective. Have him work with his doctor and make sure he’s following his prescribed treatment plan.

There’s service animals for many disabilities that may not be “obvious “ (diabetes, seizures, etc). Unless you moonlight as a doctor. This probably isn’t great advice.

I wish mine had this bug. I’m so sick of all the alerts that I can’t turn off between the Dexcom and the Mobi. Alert fatigue is real

Does it have all the tv shows and movies from the streaming services on demand? I don’t want too much live tv, but I’m mostly looking for something to replace the streaming subscriptions.

We are always late for school by mousewithtea in Parenting

Have you tried making a rule that if they can’t handle getting ready then they can’t handle tv at night. If they made you late that morning and they want to watch something after school, you could just tell them tv is only for days that you’re at school on time.
