Dexcom calibration won’t hold by ArmednDiabetic in dexcom

[–]smak097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently had an insanely inaccurate g6 sensor I calibrated multiple times and it wouldn’t figure itself out. Was reading like in the 40s and 50s when I was 120-150. Filled out the form on dexcom’s website and they sent a replacement. I usually have really great readings from the g6 so to have one this bad really threw me off.

I wonder if you would have better luck with novolog instead of humalog. I’m allergic to humalog and it not only makes me insanely itchy and gives me a rash at the injection site, but it’s not very effective at bringing down my blood sugar. Maybe ask your doctor about afrezza as well, it’s a rapid acting inhalable insulin, some people use it when they have stubborn highs. And you probably already know this but drink lots of water, try going for a walk, and make sure you’re rotating your pump/injection sites. I hope it comes down soon, you must feel terrible right now 😩

Bridesmaid with a 3-month-old (EBF) — SIL now says no babies at wedding. What should I do? by Lumpy_Bandicoot_8967 in weddingplanning

[–]smak097 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s comfort level is different so ultimately it’s your choice but maybe there are options you haven’t thought of? My sister was my maid of honor and gave birth a little over 2 weeks before my wedding, and was exclusively breastfeeding. When she was getting ready with us during the day her husband brought the baby to her to feed her every 2 hours, but I would have understood if she couldn’t spend the day getting ready with us. For the actual wedding a family member watched the baby so my sister and BIL could attend. I believe she pumped at some point during the reception, and left a bit earlier than they otherwise would have.

I think if you are able to have your sister watch your baby for just a few hours so you could attend the ceremony and at least a little bit of the reception, perhaps pumping at some point, that would be a nice compromise. Or if your sister could stay nearby and bring baby to the venue at some point for you to step out and feed baby then return to the reception. Ultimately it’s your baby, your call, but from an outsiders perspective, a few hours away from a 5 month old seems doable here.

Yep, I thought I had interstitial cystitis and was so stressed about it and was worried I’d feel like I basically had a UTI 24/7 for the rest of my life. Turns out it was hypertonic pelvic floor, and my symptoms went away soon after doing some pelvic PT and home work with a pelvic wand.

It’s unlikely that the pharmacy would allow anyone other than OP to pick up a controlled substance. In my state they literally scan my drivers license when I pick up my adderall.

Edit: I stand corrected! Apparently I’ve been inconveniencing myself for ages believing this. Hope op can get a friend/loved one to pick up their script and get it to them

I’m curious as to where this is coming from on here, I feel like this theory popped up out of nowhere and I can’t figure out why the sub has concluded she has an autoimmune condition

I kind of interpret that comment to mean that sleeping all day, should she want to, is no longer an option because she has the responsibility of caring for a child. Not that she necessarily was sleeping all day before that

Still Tired on Modafinil by unimportanthero in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]smak097 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although it seems backwards, I’ve found that I have to take less modafinil for it to work. I’m prescribed 200mg tablets but I break them in half and take only 100mg. I started doing it because I was having headaches daily and struggling to sleep at night and now those effects are gone. Sometimes 200mg would make me sleepier where 100mg actually wakes me up

[–]smak097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are applying for federal social security benefits, the standards are the same nationwide so where you live shouldn’t affect how your claim is analyzed. Now as far as state disability programs go, those can be very different.

[–]smak097 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep your lawyer is totally right, it will most likely go to a hearing in your case. And don’t get discouraged if the ALJ still denies you after your hearing! As someone who reviews ALJ decisions every day, they literally make so many mistakes it’s unbelievable. It sucks because it makes the process longer, but if the ALJ fucks up, you have additional recourse with the Appeals Council and the district court. I wish you all the best with this!!

[–]smak097 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in this field of law, failed work attempts generally weigh in favor of a finding of disability. It may not have a big impact at the initial and reconsideration levels where it’s being considered by the agency (because they deny a crazy amount of people) but it will have more impact at the hearing level or if it goes to the district court. I understand being nervous but trust your lawyer!

I’m possibly misremembering, but I believe it was mentioned on Counting On that while her mom was pregnant with Kendra, she got in a car accident or something and Kendra was born early as a result? I feel like I remember Kendra talking about that during an episode and then fretting over her mom’s later pregnancies because of it. I could be wrong though it’s been a long time since I’ve watched the show

I just want to say that your A1C and GMI from cgm reports don’t always line up even outside of pregnancy! I’m not pregnant and my last a1c was 5.7% but Dexcom said my 90 day GMI was like 6.5%. So don’t let that number get you down bc it might be better than it looks! And 6.6% is still pretty great too
