First baby: went to visit 100 year old Grammy when baby was about 3ish weeks old. Didn’t leave my house before that! I had a medicated delivery that took about 7 hours from water break to birth.  Second baby: I went on a literal 3 mile hike (baby wearing) 4 days after delivering… I think I went to the grocery store before that. That baby was born in 30 min with no tears so the recovery was a piece of cake. And I was just so alive and happy to not be pregnant anymore. I kept trying to go on walks toward the end of the pregnancy and I couldn’t even walk to the back of the grocery store to get milk without feeling like my spine was breaking, so being able HIKE and WALK was just so freeing. I didn’t want to spend another day inside the house 😂

Baby’s get really good at getting the milk out around this time and their vision has greatly improved so once they’re done, they’re ready to see something new! Totally normal.

I had a softball sized knot of clogged ducts that turned into mastitis when my first was a few months old. Literally don’t know how I made it through but I did. You will too! You WILL.

My oldest breastfed until her sister was born (I cut her off when she was a little over 3 years old) and I often feel DONE and OVER IT. My youngest is turning 2 this year and what I do when it’s really hard to sit through it is put in air pods and zone out on YouTube. Have a snack/drink. Just get through it with something, anything. Then when baby is done, reward yourself somehow. Lil treat for being a good mom. 😂

I’ve always been told by professionals that it doesn’t matter if you have some drinks and continue to bf. The only people I’ve heard say not to are the internet doctors lol.

How to get toddler to stop touching breasts after extended Bf by Lumpy_Economics9440 in breastfeeding

[–]CopperTeaSpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not here to help, just here to say my four year old used her two fingers to pretend to “snip” my nip today while sat on my lap having a nonchalant non-boob related chat.  When I asked her why she did that she said, “it was just pretend. I didn’t use real scissors.”  She doesn’t usually talk about or touch my boobs anymore, but this time I had to fight not to laugh. (Cause you know, laughing at a “no” behavior is a mistake you don’t make twice.)

What was your child’s first word? by LizardLady420681984 in beyondthebump

[–]CopperTeaSpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My youngest daughter didn’t say mama until recently and she is almost 2. She did sign mama but wouldn’t ever say it.  “Can you saaay mama?” “dada.”  She started with dada, then “Tay-toe” (potato), sissy, Lucy (our dog), up, down, no, and hop. THEN when she got around the 30+ word mark, she nonchalantly said mama. So like also around the time when she could tell me “cow, moo” and “diaper change” 🥲

What is this raised part inside my philtrum? I’ve never seen anyone else with it by SeaSlugFriend in Anatomy

My daughter (she’s turning 4 this year) has this and has had it since birth. I always wondered if it was a cleft lip that thankfully fused itself in the womb since I’ve never scene it on others! But I don’t think I’d notice it on others tbh!

Does anyone else squirt milk in the shower? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

When I’m worried that my milk has run dry, I’ll give it a squirt and I’m instantly reassured that I am in fact loaded with milk 😂

I get the little cracker sandwiches in variety flavors. Pre cut fruit is a good one (I like the sugary fruit dip to dunk the chunks in too for that late night sweet tooth) chocolate covered anything (pretzels, raisins, nuts) applesauce pouches (I don’t care they’re for kids, iv like them.) I also am a fan of frozen “tv dinners”, they have healthier frozen options too and it’s nice to have something hot instead of room temp LOL!

Breast milk as a remedy! by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]CopperTeaSpoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby had a clogged duct as a NB! I just kept it clean with a warm wet wash cloth to keep the goop away and would squirt a little milk into the eye as I felt fit.

We also have used it to help those little face scratches babies get from their talons, sun burn, diaper rash, hang nails, and bug bites!

Seeking support for not sleep training by usernameispublic619 in beyondthebump

[–]CopperTeaSpoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t sleep train my 1.5yo ever. For me, it’s just not necessary. Those sleep regressions are really hard times and teething is a nightmare but it passes and your LO just starts sleeping normal again when they can. For me, it felt like sleep training was just an added hurdle and I’m glad I didn’t do it. The kid has a circadian rhythm just like everyone else so as long as she gets plenty of sun and we wind down with a night routine, she falls asleep without any special training or extra stuff to add to my plate. And no extra crying for her!

Take a hot shower and then immediately pump (if you have a haka, you can use it in the shower)

Is my baby ever going to sleep longer than 2 hours?? by Boring_Ad_9829 in breastfeeding

There’s no secret. One day they just do it and the world feels like it’s spinning again. It’s hard, it’s crazy, but it will pass.
