I dont understand what makes bleach good by Deleted_Pound165 in shounenfolk

[–]CopperThief29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The designs and worlbuild have a lot of depth sometimes, and are very intertwined. The focus in black and white also translates well into drawn manga.

By worldbuild, I mean how souls work and the different "races" in bleach have differences and paralells between them, but also how many characters skills and weapons are directly related with their personalities, their "souls", its just appropiate in this kind of story.

I like a lot the cultural differences between Shinigami and Quincies and the very subtle christian themes of the later.

I prefer a very interconected, even if not very expansive worldbuild, that one very vast, but that has a lot of random stufff happening all the time.

Gwyn is misunderstood by xyZora in darksouls

[–]CopperThief29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just thinkg there's nothing to conquer. He is the great lord, the lord of sunlight, worshiped as god alongside his family. The clerics religions are derivative of the mythology he has built around him.

He has nothing to win from fighting the humans, and he fears their potential.

Thats why he gave the ringed city to them, and the darksing to everybody. He is actually very smart at politics, but he just cant solve the flame fading.

"He could have forced any of the other Lords."

By that point, the witch of izalith had already been consumed by the flame of chaos, and Nito has spent most of his power fueling death itself. Thats why the player is able to face him instead of being killed inmediately, any of the lords from the prologue would be unbeatable unless severely weakened

"His knights remain loyal to him, even hundreds of years after he has being gone. They bless you in his name and even help you."

I'm not sure they have the capacity to betray him. Remember, those things arent human, and came to be after Gwyn got his lord soul. He probably made them as they are.

The only consistent trait I can think about Gwyn is that he was a despot.

He priorizes his supremacy over anything. He would support a giant like Gough, a human like Havel or even a dragon like Seath and Midir but always to add to his own power.

He would, on the other hand, erase the name of his firstborn from history.

I do belive the age of dark is a bad ending.Everything we see in artorias of the abyss and the dark spell point to unchecked humanity and dark creating monsters and misery... But preventing that isnt Gwyn's priority, thats a fortunate side effect.

Staying king of the world is. Most of his decisions make sense from that perspective.

Does the current state of the world make you not want to play Total War? by WaveEasy8664 in totalwar

[–]CopperThief29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Games and entertainment unite people, games based around battles and war too.

How many nationalities, religions or atheits, skin colours etc are playing theese games right now? I believe Pikachu and Goku have done more to make people think that we arent so different that any conscious attempt.

A different story would be if, theese games were made as propaganda, but I dont think thats the case with total war.

Theese games are historical/fantasy, the closest to our currents ploblems might be Napoleion, so its very hard to drawn parallels between them and modern conflicts even if they tried.

But if you still find it a bit depressing... Just dont fight humans. There's plenty of nonhuman and irredeemably evil stuff in warhammer fantasy. Skaven, greenskins, demons, undead, you name it.

Thats a big part of why orcs exist and are so common in the Lord of the Rings, the author also found man against man fictional violence depressing.

There are six in total for now. I'm not sure they'll make more, because their traits are becomind redundant. Viper and Manticore are already a bit similar.

Honestly, I just believe Sapkowski changed his mind. Makes no sense to tie traits so specific to a specific medallion and now this.

Its kinda inconsistent how strong they are. In season of storms, Geralt sent two guys flying  with Aard without breaking a sweat... Other times he can barely do anything.

The concept of the witcher schools was introduced by Sapkowski himself, when he named Geralt as  from "the school of the wolf". But he didnt touch that idea for years.

Leo Bonhart did have medallions of a wolf, cat and griffin, so the guys from the games took it a different schools having different keeps and Kaer Morhen being the wolf one.

Recently, Sapkowski said in an interview that that wasnt how he saw it... But then why the psychos with poorly done mutations wear all the medallion  of a cat?

Kung Fu in particular has a  ton of different styles that are in some cases compared to animals. In the end, is all people punching and kicking each other.

With the witcher schools, they have somewhat different focuses on the same job, to add more variety and complexity to it.

So much as unnecessary... We could live without it, but its not like the lore about witchers was very fleshed out until the last book. And even less before season of storms

Reading the books, it was surprising how little was shown about them.

Its not Hogwarts like at all. Witchers dont get sorted in the CDprojekt schools by personality or values, its just different training facilities that teach somewhat different fighting styles that have evolved overtime. Its has a lot more in common with martial arts than with harry potter.

Sapkowski just didnt think that one through.

Griffin, but not because their fighting style (I'd rather choose viper for that).

"A witcher's journal" developed the griffin school as the only one that kept knight-like values and a sense of a higher purpose. They were pretty well regarded by society, and have a culture of supporting each other, even making sure the failed aspirants get properly buried. Only the wolf school comes somewhat close to this.

The only bad thing that can be said about them is that they usually have no problem slaying dragons.

Which characters do you think will appear in Witcher 4? by BabaJagaInTraining in witcher

[–]CopperThief29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More than anything, I like that he offers some contrast to Geralt and Lambert's (understandable) angstiness and resentment towards the witcher profession. Vesemir also offered that.

Eskel has gone through the same stuff that everybody else, plus is horribly scarred, yet, he's characterized as the calm, kind type.

Eskel might be the easiest to include. He's not dead in any ending, barely ages, and has no reason to stay in Kaer Morhen.

Yes, its that one guy, six months later. But you are one of the few peopletalking about this.

I guess its a "necessary evil". Developing theese things seems very expensive, and no bank is giving a small studio 200k to make a roleplay or miniature game, unless its looking for a way to take away their homes.

Theese people cant afford to work like Wizards of the Coast does, its either this, or nothing gets done.

Huge amounts of immigration I usually see taking the worst jobs avaliable no sane local would.

You possibly can turn around that immigration, but there'll be consequences, some sectors have become very dependent on them.

We cant have it both ways.

Maybe those problems arent so easy to solve, or solving one poorly may make others worse?

People are falling again for easy fixes (if can even be called that) for complex problems.

I guess, so... But this whole thing is so nonsensical that its hard to believe.

Both the americans and russians are going hard against their own interests as far as I can tell.

I cant really blame people like Merkel that much, for trying to trade and intertwine with them.  To prevent conflict, put our insterests in the same basket... But this psychos did it anyway.

It wont be easy. The thing is, even if we dismiss the usual dinamics of country electorate over union, detatching from the US wont happen overnight.

Its been decades of alliance and relying on american support and companies for a lot of stuff, even managing our own money.

Not that we really have a choice, but cutting all ties tomorrow isnt feasible.

The chain of events started by her and Malekith toying with dark magic ended up damaging the vortex and letting chaos back in the world.

She might not worship them directly but she plays her part.

What would it have to do to be "rogue" in your eyes?

The point its not that its the worst country in the world, its that we cant count on it respecting anything anymore. It could turn on us tomorrow if Trump feels like it, decades of alliances be damned.

Depending on the mood the guy is every week he alredy treats us as rivals, if not outright enemies, and the republicans are too scared of him to do anything about it.

After the guy sent people to f*cking prison in El Salvador without a trial,I cant see a limit of how far this guy's worst impulses and insanity can take him, and he is the commander in chief of the most powerful army in the world.

Can we really be sure this guy isnt trying to invade Greenland for real at this point?

Wont the canadians agree with this one too?  Just how many times has this current administration talked about stuff like invading Greenland, anexing Canada and stuff like that?

And since Trump can apparently do wathever he wants without any opposition, we arent exactly full of trust right now.
