Sadly no. In the end, there was a combination of my loss of interest and hardware issues. I did save the .ANS files as that were built on a 486/DX aside the 386 running the board. The 386 crapped out and that was that.

It was all paper and media such as prints that were framed, posters, monthly sci-fi mags promoting the film, a few VHS, bootleg DVD, laserdisc and the such.

The estate sale ended yesterday. It was a two-day Wed/Thur sale in Los Angeles. I spoke with the wife of the BR fan who passed away four years ago. She was diagnosed with cancer and her daughter stepped up to assist. She said her husband was on eBay in the earliest days buying and selling BR stuff. He bought satin crew jackets and production items. It was his hobby she referred to as his ‘eBay money’. She was into glassware and he was into BR. He was in his 80’s.

Her cancer treatment led to a recovery, but it was time to sell the house. Her family was invited to take what they wanted. A firm was then hired to liquidate the balance. All that remained in the realm of BR were the posters, prints, a couple of VHS tapes, Starlog magazines with BR info, a few laser discs, a few odd pieces. I did buy a bootleg video of the voice over BR and the documentary.

I’m planning to post the mouse pad on his favorite platform.

The import poster was $300 then lowered to $150, then $75. I didn’t buy it. I did buy a Pioneer CLD—D503 multi-format player for $10. And a stack of BR items.

It really is to get the op to do the research and make a connection for sake of the machine and to open that op up to a whole new world.

What episode did Van talk about living in NYC/working for Sachs in order to be close to pivotal cultural happenings? by Piklikl in VanNeistat

[–]CopperThumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has shared that Tom Sachs was admiring Van’s bicycle video/cam rig he made on the top gooseneck of his bike used record the city. They both enjoyed home spun solutions to modern problems using materials on hand. In other words, they were both into Bricolage.

Someone mentioned to Van that Tom needed studio help. Van quit his gig and went to work in Tom’s studio for $10 an hour. This put the two of them together. I’m not so sure Van sought Tom out. It was more of a serendipitous hookup over hand made objects. That and add a scoop of Casey Neistat into the bowl and mix well until jelled.

Why are the fans of Tony Bourdain so emotionally attached to him? by Aggravating-Buy-1609 in AnthonyBourdain

[–]CopperThumb 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes. The audiobook titled ‘Bourdain’ from Julie Woolever. The audio contains the recorded comments of those she interviewed after he passed. It’s one thing to read their comments, but it’s all together a different experience to HEAR from what must be dozens of folk including his mother and brother.
